TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

“Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.”
2 Samuel 2:4, NKJV

David was anointed to be the next king of Israel when he was seventeen years old, but he had to go through a season of proving before he took the throne. When David was thirty years old, after Saul was killed in a battle, the men of Judah came and anointed him as their king. Why was David anointed again? God had a fresh anointing for him. He knew David was going to face new battles, new challenges. He was going to need greater wisdom and strength, so God breathed on David’s life in a new way. With this second anointing, David established his throne and conquered new territories, but he wasn’t king over all of Israel, only the tribe of Judah. This second anointing was taking him there.

Be encouraged that what God has started in your life, He is going to finish. He works in phases. You’re anointed for the season you’re in right now, and when you need more, there are fresh anointings already lined up for you. Favor will increase, doors will open, the right people will show up. Get ready. The fullness is coming.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY:
“Father, thank You that You are working in phases in my life and You are going to finish the work You started. Thank You for the fresh anointings You bring at exactly the right time to meet my needs. I believe You are taking me into new seasons and the fullness is coming. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

“Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”
Psalm 62:8, NIV

We can look back over our life and see things that don’t seem fair. We don’t understand. “Why did they betray me? Why was I born in dysfunction? Why did I lose my loved one?” I can’t tell you why, but I can tell you that God would not have allowed it if it was not going to deposit something in you to get you prepared and in position for what He has coming.

You have to remember that you are not defined by your past; you are prepared by your past. God wastes nothing. If He allowed it, there is a purpose. He is not going to waste your pain or scars, what was not fair or what someone did to you. He is not going to let your mistakes go to waste. There is a lesson in it, an area in which you can grow to get positioned for something greater. God has not forgotten about you. Your time is coming. What He purposed for your life is still on schedule. There may have been some detours, some obstacles, but it was all part of His plan. It’s still going to happen.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY:
“Father, thank You that You are sovereign and worthy of my unconditional trust. There are things in my life that I don’t understand, situations I want to see changed, but I recognize that You are using these things to prepare me for my future. I believe You are in control. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

“Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church…But the believers who were scattered preached the Good News about Jesus wherever they went.”
Acts 8:3–4, NLT

In the book of Acts, the Holy Spirit came like a rushing mighty wind and filled the disciples with power. They went throughout Jerusalem praying for people, seeing the sick healed, the lame walk, and thousands become believers. But then a great wave of persecution arose, and the disciples fled for their lives to Samaria and Judea and shared their faith. Had they not left Jerusalem, Christianity wouldn’t have spread. They would have just kept it for the Jewish people. God had to push them out of their nest. They were satisfied in Jerusalem, but what God had in mind was much bigger. Because of the opposition, the good news of salvation spread all over the world.

We often don’t know what God is up to. In real time, all we see is an adversity we did not choose—persecution pushed us out, a friend walked away, the contract did not go through, the medical report has not improved. God is saying, “I’m still ordering your steps. Trust My ways when you don’t understand. You are about to feel the fresh wind of the Spirit rushing over you.”

A PRAYER FOR TODAY:
“Father, thank You that You know what is best for me, and You keep pushing me out of my comfort zone and into my purpose. Thank You for closed doors as well as open doors. I believe that You have something bigger, something better, something more rewarding up in front of me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

“The arguments of the person who is influencing you do not come from the one who is calling you.”
Galatians 5:8, GW

In the Scripture, even though God said that Job was a “blameless and upright man,” almost overnight he suffered great personal losses. Things got so bad that his wife told him to just curse God and die. His friends, supposedly his comforters, said the tragedy was all his fault. Surely, they said, he sinned and was getting what he deserved. In times of difficulties, be careful who you listen to. Don’t give your ear to just anyone. Some people don’t have your best interest at heart. They will judge and condemn you, try to straighten you out, tell you everything you have done wrong. You need to be around people who speak faith into you. You need people who tell you that you are coming out, that healing is on the way, that God has beauty for the ashes. And even if the difficulty is your fault, you need people who tell you that God’s mercy is bigger than any mistake, that His arms are still wide open. Tune out all the accusing, condemning voices and listen to those whose hearts are like the God who is calling you.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY:
“Father, thank You for the people in my life who inspire me, challenge me, and make me better. Help me to be wise about who I listen to and the counsel and opinions I receive. Help me to distance myself from anyone whose influence is condemning. I want to walk with the right people. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
