World Su***de Prevention Day

Sometimes the most powerful words are: "I am here for you." We must always remember that we are not alone. Let us choose kindness, listen with compassion, and remind one another that no one walks alone. 💛

SEASON OF CREATION 2026 💧🌿

St. Joseph’s Theological Institute joins the Church around the world in celebrating the Season of Creation from 1 September to 4 October 2026 under the theme “Immersion in Living Waters” (Ezekiel 47:9,12). As we reflect on God’s gift of creation, let us commit ourselves to caring for the environment, protecting our water sources, reducing pollution, and building a more sustainable future for all.

"Where the river flows, every living creature will live." (Ezekiel 47:9)

Highlights from the SJTI – COTT Student Exchange Programme 2026

St. Joseph’s Theological Institute (SJTI) extends its sincere gratitude to the College of Transfiguration NPC (COTT) for warmly hosting our students during the recent multi-week exchange programme.

Likewise, we were deeply honoured to welcome exchange students from COTT into our own Institute community. These collaborative visits foster rich academic reflection, shared spiritual growth, and enduring fraternity among future church leaders.

A Fruitful Stay Filled with Fellowship and Faith
The visiting COTT students—Ms. Khantse Maema, Mr. Luke Bessick, and Mr. Thebe Molako—arrived during an exciting and active period on campus. Throughout their time with us, they fully immersed themselves in daily life at SJTI: attending lectures, touring the Institute, and taking part in our community life while residing at the Enkanyisweni Residence.

Their visit was marked by several memorable events, including:

Women’s Day Mass (August 7, 2026): Joining our community in a special Eucharistic celebration to honour and celebrate women.

Ecumenical Cluster Sports Day (August 22, 2026): Participating in a vibrant day of sports and fellowship alongside students from various theological institutes, colleges, and universities across different Christian traditions, all united in a common spirit of unity.

The Cluster Sports Day served as a wonderful conclusion to their time with us, as they departed later that evening following a memorable final day.

SJTI Representatives at COTT
We are equally proud of our own SJTI students, Br. Donald Kateguru OP and Br. Jordan Carelse OFMCap, who represented our Institute at the College of Transfiguration in Grahamstown. We are grateful for the hospitality shown to them and look forward to hearing more about their experiences.

May the grace, lessons, and friendships shared during this exchange continue to bear rich fruit in the lives and ministries of all our student ministers!

SJTI Volleyball and Chess Double Champions & Soccer Finalists!

What an incredible showing by SJTI at the Cluster Sports Day 2026 hosted by Union Bible Institute (UBI)!

Our athletes showed tremendous skill, determination, and spirit across all events:

Chess: Out-thought and out-played the competition to take home the 2026 Cluster Sports Chess Championship title!

Volleyball: Absolutely dominant! SJTI swept through the tournament without dropping a single set—defeating UKZN 2–0 in the semi-finals and SMMS 2–0 in the final to claim the Volleyball Championship trophy!

Soccer: A brilliant run to the top! SJTI fought hard for a 2–1 semi-final victory over UKZN, finishing strong as Tournament Runners-Up after a tough final against hosts UBI.

We were also blessed to have our visiting exchange students from the College of Transfiguration (COTT) with us to share in the cheer and witness the spirit of ecumenical unity before their journey home.

A massive thank you to UBI for hosting, the event organizers, sponsors, Braai Masters, DJ, caterers, and our media team for making the day unforgettable!
