UCT Anglican Society - ANSOC

UCT Anglican Society - ANSOC UCT Anglican Society is a home-away-from-home, welcoming all students to a place of fellowship and friendship on campus.

Becoming a tertiary student is an achievement for most of us, having completed high school and now starting the preparation for what we are to face in the future and to prepare for the world of work. You will be required to make life-changing choices, not only academic choices also social choices, to do this we need to hold onto our faith and the church that we grew up in. Here we meet new friends

who have similar faith experiences and similar church experiences. ANSOC strives to help you get to a place where you will find balance between Friendship, worship, bible study, fellowship, advice and growth in faith. Establishing Change
Driven by Faith
United in Diversity

Our ASF Western Cape Chairperson - Noxolo Mdedelwa - also came to support us on our day. We were reminded, that we are a Family, and to always pray for each other, especially as we head into Examinations. We also bid a sad farewell to our sister, Avela Mabasa (Final Year MBChB), a gift was handed over to Avela, to ensure UCT ANSOC forever remains in her heart.

BISHOP JOSHUA WORSHIPS WITH UCT ANSOC

Today, UCT ANSOC was visited by the Shepherd of the Diocese, Bishop Johshua Louw, Bishop of Table Bay. This visit had been long on the cards and today, it came to realisation. Almost students gather to worship, after a few weeks of well-deserved Vacation. Of Course Load-Shedding also came to 'worship' with us at 10h00-12h00!

This was followed by a time of fellowship at the Anglican House of Studies (AnHouse). Students braved the cold weather, and came out, to see the "Joshua our Bishop" always mentioned in the Prayers, every Sunday.

In his sermon, Bishop Josh encouraged the students to be the yeast, leaning on today's Gospel. This was inline with the mission of UCT ANSOC for this year, and this really inspired the members to continue in this great task on Campus, and in their Communities.

Joy was painted all over the Chaplains (Revd Dr Isaias Chachine) face today, as the day turned out better than we had dreamed.

The Bishop got to know the Students, their Courses and Dioceses, over a meal at AnHouse. After the breaking of bread, ANSOC & AnHouse students gathered for FUN & GAMES, at AnHouse!

Thank you to the ANSOC Leaders who worked towards the success of this day!

STUDENT WELCOME SERVICE: Today, the St Paul's Family (UCT ANSOC Home-Church), welcomed ALL STUDENTS. The day also celebrated EDUCATION SUNDAY, with learners in their uniforms, but wait...even the adults wanted to GO BACK TO SCHOOL...but they couldn't quite fit n the Desk at St Paul's 😆 A few of them were sent to DETENTION 😝

On a serious note, we were blessed to have Revd Darron John Misplon (Educator) Celebrate, Rhine Tsobotsi Koloti Tobythe Preacher (Lecturer), and our Chaplain Revd Isaias Chachine (Beloved Chaplain) there with us to welcome the Students! Our Rector, Revd Reeva Mulderwas nowhere to be 'found', instead we saw a LEARNER who looked JUST LIKE HER, dressed in Full-School Uniform - check the photos to see if you can sport her!
Our Diocesan Co-ordinator- Young People’s Ministry - Diocese of Cape Town Jesse W. Pastor was in attendance, and shared a Message of Support - Jesse remains a very good friend of UCT Anglican Society - ANSOC

UWC & CPUT came in their numbers, and made sure to add flavour to the Worship Music! An ENCORE was ordered by the Parish & The Celebrant! UWC & CPUT ANSOC are welcome back at St Paul's ANYTIME, the Rector made sure they understand this

EXAM PRAYER: Today, we gathered for the last Eucharist for the Student Service. We also learn that 3 Students would not be returning in 2023, as they complete their studies this year - Mthokozisi Msezane, Nqobile Zilimbona & Sibulele Willie - we look forward to seeing them at their Graduation. We invited former ASF Provincial President Solomzi Nyezi to join us, and Hope Africa CEO Canon Delene Melissa Mark. Students were issued with Goodies Bags to support them during exams. Thank you to Hope Africa for the donating some goodies for the Goodie-Bags, Project Manager Jenny Dick delivered the Goodies.
