Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

We will never see God or know Him in the busyness of our days and in the loudness of our lives. God speaks in a still, small voice, and He speaks to our hearts. It takes some alone and quiet time to hear Him speak and to know Him. He is not going to compete with the noise of our TV sets. He is not going to compete with the cares in our lives. He is waiting for us to lay all aside and take some time to be still. In quietness and trust we will know our God.

God-possessed

Acts 2:4 marks the fulfillment of the promise that was given by Jesus, the coming of the Holy Spirit. I would like to draw your attention to the word 'filled'.

In Mark 5:1-20 (also recorded in Luke 8:26-39), we read about Jesus healing a demon-possessed man. This man's situation was not an ordinary case of demon possession. When Jesus asked him his name, he said, "Legion, because we are many." In Roman history, a legion was a division of 3 000 to 6 000 soldiers. So, this mad had at least 3 000 demons, or unclean spirits, as the bible sometimes call them. This gives us an idea of the human capacity to be possessed by spirits.

Coming back to Acts 2:4, the word 'filled' takes on a new meaning after considering the story in Mark 5. Jesus told us in John 14 that the Spirit of God will live in us. God the Father and our Lord Jesus promised they will come and make us their dwelling place, and they did. They did not come just to occupy a corner in the room of our lives, but fill us to the brim. John 1:16 proclaims that we have received his [Jesus] fullness, and 'in Jesus dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily' (Colossians 2:9). The Spirit of the Lord has made us COMPLETE, and we are now God-possessed.

Isaiah 54:10. Have you imagined waking up one day to find out the mountain or hill in your neighborhood had taken a walk, and it's not there anymore? These thoughts rarely cross our minds. Why? Because we are SURE that mountains do not physically move from where they are situated. In short, we can say, "they are committed to the place where God appointed for them."

But here we have God using a word picture of mountains moving and hills departing, comparing or contrasting that to His love. As sure as we are that the physical mountains we have grown accustomed to seeing are not anywhere, more so sure is the love of God for us. God's love is committed to us the same way those mountains are committed to their places of residence. His love is not going to walk away from us. Why? Because God Is Love. The moment He stops loving us is the moment He ceases to be Himself.

We can live life rest assured that our God is not going to change as far as His love for us is concerned. He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. He is worthy to be praised and worshipped for this great quality.

The Mystery of Prayer.
1 Kings 18:1 And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.
18:41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
18:42 ...And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,

God spoke to Elijah that He was bringing rain, then Elijah heard the sound of great rain coming, yet he went ahead and prayed. Does that make sense? If God was sending rain, why did Elijah pray for what God had said He was going to do?

Here is the secret: Because prayer is giving God the permission to interfere in the affairs of this world. God does things legally, He is not an intruder. That is why He wants us to ask Him to do what He has promised. That is why we should pray always.

"Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap." Galatians 5:7

You can not live like the devil six days a week and expect the promises in the Word of God to come to pass. Hebrews 11:6 says that God rewards those who diligently seek Him. Seeking God on a Sunday only is not in the category of 'diligently seeking Him.'

Jeremiah 9:24 (NIV) ...let him that boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows Me (God), that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight.

The only thing that God commanded us to boast about is our knowledge and understanding of Him. He did not say boast about knowing about Him, but knowing Him (there is a difference!). Verily, there is few who can boast about knowing God.

Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

Knowing God is not for the super saints and the fanatics. It is for everyone. God gave everyone the opportunity to know Him. Many knew Him but they did not believe that He is God. They searched for other gods in this world, they made their own. We should all come to the knowledge that God Almighty is the only True God who is Everlasting. That is part of knowing Him, knowing His Eternal Power and Love. God is Everlasting Love.

Job 42:5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.

Job knew about God but at the end of his ordeal he saw God. This does not mean he saw God with his physical eyes. He had a revelation of God, His love, mercy and goodness. All that Job knew was what he heard from those that knew God. But through his trying experience he got to know God.

It takes revelation to know God. He is seeking to reveal Himself to anyone who will allow Him to. Open up your heart and see!

John 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

This was at the end of Jesus' ministry, 3.5 years of being with His disciples everyday and every night. And Jesus is saying "IF you HAD known me..." meaning they did not know Him at the time Jesus made that statement. All they did was know about Jesus. They did not have that close and intimate relationship with Him. They took Him at face-value without realising His real worth - that deep inside He was God and He represented the Father.

Likewise, one can be a Christian their whole life without really knowing God. All they will have is knowledge ABOUT God. Every believer needs to have experiential knowledge of the Father. We should not only live on what we are told about God but on what we experience ourselves in our walk with God the Father.

Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Do you still feel condemned for what you did? Do you ever wonder if you are really forgiven for what you did? God has already forgiven you and He does not remember those sins you did in the past. If you are having your sins constantly brought to your remembrance know that it is not God who is condemning you. God loves you and He wants you to live life free from guilt of sin.

“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
John 16:23-24 NKJV

Do you have a revelation of what the name of Jesus means to you as a believer? Why did Jesus tell us to ask the Father in His name?

Look at the Israelites. They prayed to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Why? Because God made a covenant with these three. They were beneficiaries of God's favour towards Abraham because of the covenant. In a sense, they prayed to God in the name of Abraham. And God would answer them because of His agreement with Abraham.

This is the same reason we pray in the name of Jesus. God made a covenant with our Lord Jesus. Hebrews say there is no covenant without the shedding of blood. The blood that was shed for this covenant we are a part of is the blood of Jesus.

So, when we pray in His name, God answers us because He fulfills His agreement with Jesus. Our prayer comes before God as if it is Jesus Himself who is asking.

This is why Jesus had the confidence to tell us to ask God anything we desire because He is assured that God will give Him anything He asks. Therefore, let us go before God with genuine desires and ask of Him and He will give us those things we ask.

Redeemed from the Curse

Galatians 3:13-14; Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,”that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

The book of Galatians, in chapter 3, says that the law was a school master, to bring us to Christ. It was meant to show us our need for a savior. A law so holy that no man could not keep, that everyone that failed to keep it died. This was the emphasis Paul made in his ministry to the Gentiles. He did not want them to continue in ignorance (2 Corinthians 2:11), but it was his constant prayer for them to be established and rooted in Him, established in the faith, and increasing therein with thanksgiving (Colossians 2:7). We do need to be firmly established in this grace of God. Romans 5:2 says this is where we STAND. Presented here are some of the transactions that Jesus made as far as the law and the believer is concerned.

Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
Again, here the word "sins" is a noun, referring to the evil or sinful nature indwelling a person who is not born again. The evil nature took advantage of the law, to bring its desires to pass.
How did sin (this evil, ungodly nature) enter the world?
Through Adam! Through Adam, how? He ate of the forbidden tree.
What was that which he did? He disobeyed the only law that was present.
So, what can we say?
The devil took advantage of the law that forbade the eating of the tree to tempt man. That is, sin took advantage of the law to bring death. This is what the enemy always does. He takes what God meant for good and he perverts it. Look around you, he is perverting marriages, families, the desire for material things. God made us all with the desire and potential to do good, but Satan adds a little bit of deception to cause us to go against God. He is telling people it is OK for premarital marriage, it is natural to be homosexual, it is OK to abort a child in the womb. And many people seem to have embraced the poison of the enemy. They have been blinded to his deception. Paul talks about this in Romans 7:8.

Romans 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Concupiscence means evil or ungodly desire. Sin took advantage of the law to produce all kinds of evil desire. Have you ever noticed that man has a propensity for doing what is forbidden? This is exactly what this verse is saying. Have you ever told someone a secret and tell them not to tell anyone? That just lights a fire inside them and that fire makes them itch to tell anyone and everyone the secret, and then tell them not to tell anyone.

There is a certain pastor who was reading this part of the Word and endeavored to test it. He noticed a bunch of kids playing outside and he went to them and told them that they should not touch the elephant flower by the door, or even think about it. It was there all along but no one dared touch it. The moment they were made aware of it in the form of a law every desire burned in them just to touch it. Some cursed it, some spit on it, some ripped leaves off it. What changed? A law was introduced into the picture.

Here is something also that Paul said in the book of 2 Corinthians concerning the law.
2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:3:9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
Paul brought out two things about the law.
The law kills - it culminates in death. This was because it came with a curse attached to it. And also because of the sinful nature residing in us that took advantage of the law.
The law condemns - this is crucial in a believers life. Condemnation kills. That feeling of unworthiness will not make one run to God, it turns them away.

James shows us the severity and holiness of the law.
James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Do you know the implications of this? If you lie, you are guilty of the rest of the 10 commandments. You are as bad as murderer, you are guilty of having other gods, you are guilty of adultery ... That is the full wrath of the law. Who can keep such a demand when they are morally corrupt and the evil nature still resides in them. This is a good example which shows us that the purpose of the law was not to make people holy and righteous before God. It was designed to bring man to the end of themselves, where he will say, who can deliver me from such a demand (Romans 7:24)?" And God will answer, "My Son! Only Jesus can (Romans 7:25)."

Does that make the law evil, since it caused people to die, and since it caused people to sin more? Of course not. Paul explains that the Law of God is good, and holy. It came from a holy God. But he also said that the law had a weakness. Not that it was God's fault or there was a fault in the Law He gave. It was weak through the flesh (Romans 8:3). We were the problem, not the Law of God. We were not able to keep it by reason of the evil nature in us which took advantage of the law. It was not the law that was killing people, but the sinful nature in us was the one dishing out the death (Romans 6:23).

This is why Jesus delivered us from the law. He gave us the Holy Spirit to give us life. We can now live in the newness of life, ordering our behavior after the inner promptings of the Holy Spirit, instead of following a written code that only produce death when you miss its requirements.
