Each one must give account to God - By Pastor Deon Jacobs
Eccl 3:15 – That which is has already been, And what is to be has already been; & God requires an account of what is past.
Rom 14:12 – So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.
Heb 4:13 – And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
God’s word is clear every person ever born are accountable to God?
To give account means God holds us personally responsible for our lives & everyone will personally answer to God for the kind of life they lived!
WHY MUST WE GIVE ACCOUNT TO GOD?
God so set up things that we must be accountable to parents, spouses authority figures, justice systems, government institutions, school teachers, principals, most of all himself, the creator of all things. – (Rom 13)
The real & main reason we must give account to God is because he owns our lives, it is not ours, it was granted to us as a gift!
Job 33:4 – The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life. - Job 12:10, Isa 42:5
People go through life totally oblivious to what awaits them in the future; everyday it’s just “life as usual”, they preoccupied with sleeping, eating, drinking, making money, working, preparing meals, doing housework, travelling, etc, & don’t give any thought of the climatic future that is coming.
Ps 10:4 –The wicked in his proud countenance does NOT SEEK GOD; GOD is in NONE of his THOUGHTS. (There is no room for God).
Pride & arrogance is why people don’t fear God, ignore him, live ungodly lives, reject his salvation through Jesus & why they have no room for him in their lives.
Ps 10:13 – Why do the wicked renounce God? He has said in his heart, “You will not require an account.”
Ps 14:1 – The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”
People live as if their maker, God is not going to hold them liable & responsible for the life they lived.
Satan the God of this world has deceived people just like he did Eve, he blinds their hearts & minds so that they do not take God or his word seriously. (2 COR 4:4/ GEN 3:1-5)
God entrusted us with this life we are stewards, not owners but at the end God will demand justice & settle accounts, meaning how, what & who we lived for will be compared & judged against his righteous & perfect standards set out in his word!
WHAT WILL WE GIVE ACCOUNT OF?
Matt 12:36 – But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
1. CARELESS & IRRESPONSIBLE WORDS
People will be judged for speaking words of spitefulness, anger, rage, & hatred against God, Holy Spirit & the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Also words of rejecting the Holy Spirit men of God through whom preached, testified & spoke.
2. SECRETS OF MEN
Rom 2:16 – in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.
Eccl 12:14 – For God will bring every work Into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.
Things people consider secret will be revealed – Jesus will not only judge words & outward actions but he will disclose all hidden, motives, thoughts, lusts & desires of men’s hearts! – this will be a complete thorough judgment!
Mark 4:22 – For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light.
1 Cor 4:5 – Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.
Unbelievers who rejected Christ as Lord & Savior will appear before the great throne of judgment & judged according to their works alone & because by works or doing good deeds no flesh can be saved or justified they will condemned to eternal punishment”. - Rev 20:12–15
Gal 2:16 –knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ & not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
We may consider many things in life to be significant, but is there anything more vital & important than standing before an omniscient, holy & all-knowing God to whom we must give account. - Amos 4:12
Eccl 12:13 – Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God & keep His commandments, For this is man’s all.
Solomon came to the conclusion at the end of his life that to live in in fear & honor of God is really what matters most, because each of us will stand before God alone & give an account.
Will you not feel disrespected & insulted if someone you entrusted your possessions & goods with should carelessly & irresponsibly damage & destroy it – would you not want some form of justice, retribution & accountability!
It is unreasonable to assume that God must overlook & excuse us for abusing & taking for granted the gift of life he gave us, by living in sin, pleasure & selfishness.
God as the righteous owner of our lives has every right to hold us accountable for our actions, deeds & lifestyles.
The good news & comfort is that every born again blood-washed Christian who made Jesus their Lord & Savior will not be judged with sinners & unbelievers before the great white throne of God.
John 3:18 – He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 5:24 – “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, & shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
People can praise & compliment us all day long; we can be self-assured & confident about ourselves, our righteousness & spirituality, but the only thing that matters is how God sees us & what his righteous, heavenly perspective is of us!
