Kensington Baptist Church Kensington Baptist Church
12th Avenue Kensington 7405
Cape Town
Western Cape
Republic of South Africa We as Baptist believe in :

1.

The DIRECT LORDSHIP OF CHRIST over every believer and over the local church. By this we understand that Christ exercises His authority over the believer and the local church directly, without delegating it to another.

2.The CHURCH as a whole company of those who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ and regenerated by the Holy Spirit. THE LOCAL CHURCH, being a manifestation of the universal church,

is a community of believers in a particular place where the word of God is preached and observed. It is a fully autonomous and remains so notwithstanding responsibilities it may accept by voluntary association.

3. BELIEVER'S BAPTISM as an act of obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ and a sign of personal repentance, faith and regeneration; it consist of immersion in water into the name of the Father, Son and Holy spirit.

4. The CONGREGATIONAL SPIRIT, namely that each member has the privilege and responsibility to use his/her gifts and abilities to participate fully in the life of the church. We recognize that God gifts his church with overseers (called pastors and elders) whose primary function is to lead in the spirit of servanthood, to equip and provide spiritual oversight, and deacons whose primary function is to facilitate the smooth functioning of the Church. This principle further recognizes that each member should psrticipate in the appointment of the church's leaders, and that constituted church meeting, subject to the direct Lordship of Christ and the authority of Scripture, is the highest court of authority for the local church.

5. The PRIESTHOOD OF ALL BELIEVERS, by which we understand that each Christian has DIRECT ACCESS TO GOD through Christ our High Priest, and shares with Him His work of reconciliation. This involves intercession, worship, faithful services and bearing witness to Jesus Christ, even to the end of the earth,

6. The principle of RELIGIOUS LIBERTY, namely that no individual should be coerced either by the state or by any secular, eccelesiastical or religious group in matters of faith. The right of private conscience is to be respected. For each believer this means the right to interpret the scriptures responsibly and to act in the light of his conscience.

7. The principle of SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE in that, in the providence of God, the two differ in their respective natures and functions. The Church is not to be identified with the state nor is it, in its faith or practice, to be directed or controlled by the state. The state is responsible for administering justice, ensuring an orderly community, and promoting the welfare of its citizens. The Church is responsible for preaching the gospel and for demonstrating and making known God's will and care for all mankind.

It is a privilege to encourage the body of Christ, from Romans 12:16-21, reminding us of our behavior as brethren. We were profoundly challenged by the Word of God; we are grateful for God's Word!

Pastor Buntu Mgwelo shared the Word of God with us, preparing us for the Lord's table. We were encouraged, united as the body of Christ, to reflect on ourselves and examine ourselves before partaking of the bread and cup, which represent the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Mfundsi.

It is a privilege to witness the Church's growth under the Lord's guidance. We were privileged to experience God's presence at Work. We are grateful to God to experience growth in the body of Christ, as we serve the Lord together in ministry.

We felt privileged to share in the joy of St. Connie Isaacs' 90th birthday celebration. The words of Isaiah 46:4 offer a heartening assurance: 'Even in your old age, your grey hairs, I the Lord will carry you, I will save you.' May this milestone mark the beginning of a new chapter filled with love, joy, and continued blessings.

I had the privilege to minister God’s Word yesterday at Funeral of the Late Peredine Mostert who departed from this world, in her eleventh hour, accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour. Rest in Peace and eternal life awaits you (John 14:6).

What an evening of Worship. Rev. Peter Cornelius said, Worship exist because missions doesn't. Meaning, that in Christian theology, the goal is for people to know, love, and worship God. Missions (sharing the faith with others) is considered necessary because many people do not yet worship God. If everyone already worshipped God, missions would no longer be needed, but worship would continue. What a night of Worship we had. We had an encounter with God, and experienced His presence! Glory to God in the Highest!

We were honored to attend Pastor Buntu Mgwelo's Swan Song at the Cape Town Baptist Seminary, where he shared a powerful reminder of Psalm 23:4, encouraging his fellow students and ministers to find solace in God's presence during life's difficult moments. What a remarkable time we shared with him at CBTS.

During the week of Pentecost, KBC hosted a Youth Service on the Friday night, with Pastor Buntu Mgwelo delivering a sermon based on Acts 2. Before ministering the Word we had a powerful time of communal prayer, worship and reflection. God is indeed moving in our midst. Pray for our Youth!
