As we mark 50 years since the 1976 Soweto Uprising, we honour the courage and sacrifice of the young people who stood up for freedom, justice and equality.

This beautiful prayer for South Africa's young people just before Youth Day was written and read by Tjaandy Vos.

"Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of our youth, for the passion, creativity, energy and potential you've placed within each young individual. Lord, remind us that our worth is found in you and not by opinions in any way, shape or form. Lord, raise us to be men and women after your own heart, setting an example to all believers in our words, deeds, love and purity. Help us to always place you in the centre of our lives in everything that we do. Fill our hearts with worship and wonder, and guide us to be leaders who bring glory to your name. Amen"
