The fire of Pentecost did not fall to entertain the Church. It came to awaken it. The same Holy Spirit that empowered the disciples in Acts 2 is still moving today, calling believers to live boldly, speak truth and carry the Gospel into a broken world.

Pentecost Sunday reminds us that the Church was not built on human strength but on the power of the Holy Spirit. From the first distribution of the Scripture beyond Silence campaign to many more still to come, God’s Word is reaching the deaf community in powerful and life-changing ways.

On 20 April 2026, the Bible Society of South Africa distributed the first 23 Bibles for the Deaf to learners at De La Bat School for the Deaf in Worcester, following the incredible support received during the Scripture beyond Silence campaign. Thanks to generous donors, a total of 560 specialised Bibles were funded and future distributions will continue as more schools, churches and organisations serving the Deaf community are identified.

Through accessible Bible translation, Bible distribution and deaf ministry support, we are helping more South Africans engage with Scripture in a language and format they can truly understand.

Ascension Day reminds us that Jesus did not simply leave the earth; he entered the very presence of God on our behalf. Because Christ reigns in glory, we can hold firmly to the faith we profess, no matter what we face.
