*Respecting and preserving life*

On Sunday, 30 August 2026, the divine service was conducted by the Rector Steven Poole , accompanied by Priest Benjamin Kinnear

As basis for the divine service, the bible text was taken out of Exodus 20 verse 13:
*You shall not murder.*

Message
*God alone is Lord over life and death.*

Summary
■ The Fifth Commandment serves to protect human life.
■ Jesus Christ expands on the meaning of this commandment: violence already has its roots in anger and hatred, which are themselves violations of God’s will.
■ We are called upon to respect, protect, and promote life.
■ Even if we at times fail in our endeavour to follow God’s commandments, the following applies to the humble: His mercy is greater than our imperfection.

As a congregation we also witnessed the appointment of our new Young People's leader for the congregation, Br Keegan Damonse.
We wish him well in his new responsibility.

𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁: 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝟭𝟳:𝟮𝟬–𝟮𝟭 (𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗽𝘁) (𝗡𝗞𝗝𝗩)
I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one.
𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲: God grants us oneness, and we do everything in our power to preserve it.

This morning we also witnessed the sacrament of Holy Baptism of three children and one adult . District Rector reminded the parents as well as the entire congregation that this is a very special moment and a beautiful experience . A Holy Act instituted by Jesus Christ . The parents was also encouraged to teach their children to know God . God is always present in our lives and want to give us all eternal life.
𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆:
● Jesus not only prays to the Father for the disciples of that time, but also for all those who will come to believe through their word.
● The objective of Jesus’ prayer is the unity of all believers. This unity is founded upon Him and is meant to be an identifying feature of the one church of Christ.
● Oneness is a gift of God and a mission for humankind.

We also , as a congregation witnessed the reinstatement of Priest Kinnear who was transferred into Malibu congregation to assist with the work of God in the congregation .

After the conclusion of the divine service District Rector asked the matriculants present to rise . He encouraged them to do their best , to remember God is always with them in all they do . Failure is not the end of ones journey , we just take a different path to reach the top .
Afterwards the officiants made time to greet the congregation

Throwback Thursday

What an incredible Dare2Care Week we shared together!

From our Catch-Up Conversation, an inspiring G2G, serving our community through the outreach project at The Ark, to the powerful Divine Service at Silversands Congregation, every moment reminded us of what it means to live out our faith through love and service.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, served, donated, and supported the week in any way. Your willingness to care for others made a lasting impact.

May we continue to live the spirit of Dare2Care every day.

Following Sunday’s Service for the Departed, our Young People, together with members of the choir and our ministers, continued the cherished tradition of visiting the homes of our sick and bereaved members.

With joyful hearts, many of the Young People walked from house to house, even carrying their musical instruments with them.

These visits were deeply appreciated by the members.

Divine Service for the Departed
1 Peter 4:6
For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who
are dead, that they might be judged according to men in
the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
The Divine service was conductor by our Rector, Steven Poole Priest Rodney Wyngaard was asked to assist our Rector at the altar.

Message:
After His crucifixion, Jesus brought salvation to the realm of the
dead.
-The preaching of the gospel
-The dispensation of the sacraments
Summary
■ After His death on the
cross, Jesus descended into the realm
of the dead and
preached to those in
need of help.
■ As affirmed in the New
Testament, both God’s
word and the sacraments are now accessible to the dead.

We as the congregation were reminded about God's love for His children, both the living and the dead . God wants all people to be saved . For this reason all His sacraments are made available for both the living and the dead .
Again the parents and adults were encouraged by our Rector with the words , ' Tell our children about Jesus Christ '

God gives us peace, hope, and a future.

We as the congregation also witnessed the retirement of our beloved Priest Nathaniel Coert. A well deserved retirement after 34 faithful years of serving in the Ministry. Priest Coert and his family was thanked for his faithful service in God's work but also reiterated that he is retiring from the ministry and not from God's work. The work continues and all the help is needed to complete the work of God.

More blessings was bestowed when we also witnessed the 25th wedding anniversary blessing bestowed on Priest Peter and Sis Bronwyn Stephanus . We as the congregation were reminded that is a special and beautiful achievement to be together for so long. God had His hand and still have His hand in their union.
According to the couple their union was designed by God Himself and that will remain their believe .
We wish the happy couple much blessings and strength in their union .

On the conclusion of the divine service the choir majestically performed the choir hymn 138 accompanied by the organ and orchestra

OUR FUTURE PEACE ........

Hebrews10 vs 23 was the text for our third Sunday morning service .
We were reminded by our Rector of the message . ' Hope in God allows us to look to the future with in our hearts . Our Rector emphasized that many people go through terrible turmoil yet they found it in their hearts to move on and have peace in their hearts .

Our future peace arises from the certainty that Christ will return as our Saviour and the bridegroom of His Church .

Priest Victor Adriaanse was ask to serve along . Through him we were also reminded to hold on to our faith. To trust in God whole heartedly and to believe the Christ will return to us with Him .
Priest Adriaanse ended off with the words . ' We should realize what Powerful faith we have '

As the congregation we also witnessed the Holy Baptism Act being performed .
We could all be witnesses to the vow that was made by the parents on behalf of their young children.
Our Rector encouraged the parents to tell the children the story of Jesus Christ and what He sacrificed for us .

After the service the ministers greeted the congregation and have a photo session with parents and their children .

14 June 2026 brought us the word from Nehemiah 8 vs 10(excerpt) . ' Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength'

The service was conducted by Priest Mark Fortune and Priest Nathaniel Coert was asked to assist.

We were reminded as a congregation that we serve in the joy that Christ is near us
We are too called to take part in building the city of God - the spiritual Jerusalem, the church of Christ .
When we serve , we should be aware the we are doing something meaningful and significant for others - that we are working both for God and for all humankind.

The deepest source of our joy is the nearness of Jesus himself.

As a congregation we also witnessed the 40th wedding anniversary blessing being bestowed on Bro and Sis Malan .
Here we as the congregation was reminded what happens when we place God first in all that we do .

Seek he first the kingdom of God and all its righteousness .

After the divine service the ministers and the happy couple greeted the congregation .
