The Parish of the Resurrection in Table View warmly hosted the Women’s World Day of Prayer on 6 March 2026, drawing together women from across the local Christian community for a meaningful time of worship, reflection, and fellowship. This annual global ecumenical movement, led by Christian women, invites all people to unite in prayer and action for peace and justice.
This year’s theme, “Come, I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:26–30), offered a message of comfort and renewal, resonating deeply with those in attendance. The service materials were prepared by women from Nigeria, providing a rich cultural and spiritual perspective that many found both enlightening and inspiring.
The event was co-organised by Corina Pedder of the Parish of the Resurrection Catholic Church and Cindy Correia from the Milnerton Methodist Church. Their collaboration reflected the spirit of unity that defines the Women’s World Day of Prayer. The gathering was well attended by women from various churches in Table View, Milnerton, and Brooklyn, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.
An informative segment on Nigeria captivated the congregation, sharing fascinating insights into the country’s culture, history, and daily life—much of which was new to many present. The service itself was enriched by participation from different congregations: readings were delivered by women representing the various churches, while the homily was presented by Fr Carlo Adams of the Parish of the Resurrection. Prayers were led by Revd Tembeka Mpako-Ntusi, Assistant Priest at St. Oswald’s Anglican Church in Milnerton.
The music added a special dimension to the service, beautifully played on the keyboard by Adrian Christian and enthusiastically sung by all present, creating a heartfelt and uplifting worship experience.
Following the service, attendees gathered in the parish hall for a delicious tea hosted by the Catholic Women’s League. A highlight of the refreshments was the opportunity to enjoy Jollof rice, a traditional Nigerian dish, lovingly prepared and served by one of the Nigerian parishioners—an authentic touch that tied in beautifully with the day’s theme.
Overall, the Women’s World Day of Prayer at the Parish of the Resurrection was a deeply enriching and unifying event, celebrating faith, cultural diversity, and the shared commitment to prayer and justice. Parish of the Resurrection
