Food 4:1 - 4
Then Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil.
And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he became hungry afterwards.
And the temper came to him, and said, If thou be the Son of God, say that these stones become loaves of bread.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
My message this morning is short and simple β If Jesus Christ Himself was tempted by the devil, what makes you and me think we are not going to be tempted? Why is it not an expectation that our circumstances are going to be stretched to the limit and that in those weak moments when we are fragile and weak, when we are hungry, that the devil is going to come to tempt us. If we know this, why are we surprised when this happens? Isn't that what we should prepare for to fight back with our Sword β the Word of God?
What are those weak places in your life that make you hungry and incomplete? Take communion today β the Living Bread and allow Christ to satisfy that hunger and strengthen you in your weak moments, so that the devil has no place to tempt you.
