Seek to Understand Others before Being Understood.
Another lesson taught by John is the Exchange Principle, which says, “Instead of putting others in their place, we must put ourselves in their place.” How do you do that? By listening and working harder at understanding the other person’s point of view instead of trying to get them to understand yours. This week, make it your goal to speak less, listen more, and understand others.

Create a list of people to whom you need to apologize for your actions, and then follow through with sincere apologies. Try to make things right with them if it’s within your power to do so.
