Theme: Understanding the difference between obstacles and battles
Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 17 v 8

"He stood and shouted to the ranks of Israel, “Why have you come out to draw up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and are you not servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me".

In life people are failing because of they are spending most of their time fighting obstacles instead of facing the real battles. There's a difference between obstacles and battles. Obstacles are minor situations that the devil throw at us inorder for him to keep us busy and from having our breakthroughs.
Winners always know were to spend their ernergy. Today's word will outline our pitfalls as Christians.

• If one is to go into battle he/she needs to understand that it's a fight and they won't be any leniency.
• In life we're faced with situations /battles so that your God must be known and exalted.
• For you to be on top you must topple the one which is already there. For one to be called a champion he/she must wrestle the champion of champions.

• One can never be known as a champion unless he/she has toppled those that are on top(Goliath)
• One's name can only be known once they have defeated those that are on top(giants)
• They're a lot of petty fights that we think are battles yet they are worth mentioning.
• When David was shepherding the sheep, he was not into the battle yet , but he was being prepared for the real fight against Goliath.
• There are small fights we are labelling big battles yet a small child can be able to overcome.
• In a battle there are bruises and wounds that one must be prepared to get after fighting real battles.

• If one hasn't understood real battles in life one will end up fighting darkness.
• These small fights we think are battles aren't battles but just minor obstacles.
• One's ability to face obstacles determines how one will be able to face the battles ahead.
• Lions and bears were there to prepare David for the bigger challenge in waiting.
• For one to be able to face his/her obstacles there's need to understand the background of where they are coming from.
• The devil throws many obstacles to keep someone busy or away from their breakthroughs.

• We have failed as individuals to define the difference between obstacles and battles. Obstacles are meant to strengthen us.
• When David killed the lion and the bear he didn't celebrate(cut off their heads). His celebration came through Goliath.
• If the devil has declared war on someone it's important for one to study him and know his tactics.
• Battles are won by those who understand the weaknesses and strengths of their enemy.
• Goliath was able to harass and scare the armies Israel and for 39 days because they lacked strategy .
• We can be in meditation in highest places and yet fail to deal with our battles.

• People have spent a lot time in the prayer room yet they lack solutions to the battles faced in life.
• Instead of the Israelites to face Goliath head on they were busy looking for exits.
• If one is faced with battles it's not time for one to contemplate on resigning but it's time to face them head on.
• It's time for people to stand firm and be solution providers for their families.
• It's not time to look for places to run to but time to face Goliath, defeat him and cut off his head and present it to those watching.
• It's an error for one to enter the prayer room and leave without a solution/empty handed.

• When one goes to his/her family there must be proof that he/she is a warrior. One must cut of Goliath's head and present to those watching them from a distance.
• David could not continue listening to Goliath whilst he continued insulting the Israelites. He could not stomach the insults.
• One must not hide or continue to show passiveness when the enemy continues to torment them.
• When Queen Elizabeth died the coronation of the next King had to take place without delay.
• Such should be our lives as christians that when faced with battles we must be able to move on and come up with solutions.
• When Goliath challenged the armies of the Israelites, David didn't go into prayer room but faced the situation head-on.

• David listened to the voice of the Lord that always carried him through in the wilderness.
• David didn't compare himself with Goliath but he put his trust in the Lord, he cared less about Goliath's stature
• He faced his situation and meditated whilst going into battle.
• Adopt the attitude that David took, he cast away all fear and doubt and put his trust in God
• One must never let their situations in life to wear them down, put all trust in God and face the giants and God will see us through.

You can pick Goliath's head
I find most people fear their situation whilst they are in the presence of God.

HEAD IN HAND: DAVID AND GOLIATH

Don’t you love when Scripture comes to life in a new way . . . especially when you have read the story a thousand times?
While studying 1 Samuel 17 the conversation “steered off ” as to why David cut off Goliath’s head after striking him down. David needed to make sure the giant was officially DEAD. And, I will say, cutting off a head will sure stop a doubt.

The “giants” we face today come in many forms. They can be people, broken dreams, fear, anger, addiction, divorce, or disappointment. And how many times have we just “stunned” these giants, fully thinking defeat, but only coming to realize they have only been in a sub-conscience state. We, too, need PROOF. We need to make sure to “cut off their heads” . . . making sure they are DEAD. I know this is kind of morbid, but with head in hand, we can know our giant is defeated once and for all.
What is the PROOF that a giant is dead?

For Jesus, it was the resurrection. The living PROOF that Christ conquered death and sin, rose from the grave, and witnessed to many.

For David, it was remembering the past faithfulness of God. The living PROOF that God rescued him when fighting against the bear and lion. This proof of God’s grace gave him more determination to fight again for the Lord, against a larger giant.

For Moses, it was watching fear be defeated and seeing the Red Sea part before his eyes. The living PROOF that God was leading them out of Egypt and was faithful to His promises.

For Joseph, it was conquering hurt and anger as he witnessed his family again. The living PROOF that forgiveness covers the blame Joseph could have had for his brothers for selling him into slavery.

For me, it’s conquering the unknown and stepping into ministry. The living PROOF that God is in control . . . through circumstances, words of encouragement, emails, and answered prayers.

Introduction: In the life we're living in we're missing the mark even if we make plans. Why??

• Should we always blame evil spirits/satan for our failures in life?

• First we need to understand that we're made in God's image.
• One must not look down upon himself/herself because God made us in His likeness.
• We're are a fashioned image of God; meaning He's not ashamed of us.
• We can occupy any office because we're made in God's image.
• The devil will never tear us apart because we're made in God's image.
• Sometimes one doesn't need to have hands laid upon them but a change in behavior or lifestyle.
• One must keep themselves clean (bathing)in order to be delivered from a demon of dirtness.
• The physical body must be kept clean and healthy.
• Image refers to man's freedom 🌟
• We've lost our God given identity that's the reason why we continue to fail in life.
• If God has made you a helper, show that you're are a true helper (women)
• If God has made one a head show your leadership capabilities (men)
• A helper (woman) must humble themselves and learn to be helpful.

• They're certain acts or behaviors that we're doing that determines one's outcome in life.
• The devil creates images in our minds to manipulate us from forgetting our original identity.
• Everyone male and female were made in the likeness of God.
• Men(Adam &Eve) invited death upon humankind by letting the devil manipulate them.
• If one needs his/her business to prosper one must submit his/her business/project proposals to God.
• If one wants marriage they must be acceptable reasons of marriage.
• Before making decisions in life one must apply logical reasoning to the process.

• Failure to make logical decisions has nothing to do with evil spirits.
• Christians must always want to hear from God whatsoever situation we have in our lives.
• If one makes an error or commits a sin before God he/she must humble themselves before Him and confess in order to regain his/her image.
• Confession of sins enhances the revival of one's spiritual life.
• Lack of knowledge causes people to make irrational decisions in life.
• Wait for God's appointed time, gather enough knowledge and understanding and pray about it.
• If one positions himself/herself in the Lord they will never struggle.
