THE SILENT ENEMY — THE SPIRIT OF FAMILIARITY
There is a silent enemy that doesn’t attack with noise. It slowly attacks your ability to see, honor, value, and recognize what God has placed around you. That enemy is the spirit of familiarity.
Some people lose their destiny because they became too familiar with what they were once afraid to lose.
When you hear the truth so often that it no longer convicts you…
When you stay around blessed people for so long that you stop recognizing the grace upon their lives…
When what once amazed you becomes “normal”…
Familiarity kills wonder, and when wonder dies, honor often dies with it. And when honor dies, access can close.
Uzzah touched the Ark because he had become familiar with what was holy. He was close to it, but closeness did not give him permission to treat it casually. — 2 Samuel 6:6–7
Even Jesus was underestimated because people became familiar with Him:
“Is this not the carpenter’s son?” — Matthew 13:55
How do you know familiarity may be working in you?
1. You no longer value what once changed you.
2. Correction irritates you instead of helping you grow.
3. You dishonor the people God sent to help you.
4. Your gratitude begins to disappear because you feel entitled to God’s grace.
5. You become spiritually numb—you can see the work, but you no longer recognize the grace behind it.
Isaiah 6:10 warns about hearts becoming dull and unable to truly hear and understand.
May God keep us from becoming so familiar with His presence, His Word, His people, and His blessings that we stop recognizing the wonder in them.
Never let familiarity make you lose honor.
What has become ordinary to you may still be a miracle. 🙏🏽🔥
