Pastor Motale reminded us how Jesus first met Peter in Luke 5. A carpenter tells a professional fisherman to go deeper, “Kwetseng”, into waters Peter already knew well. This wasn’t a new place. Peter had already been there, worked all night, and caught nothing.
So this was not about trying harder. It was about trusting Jesus beyond your own experience.
Peter obeyed, even when it didn’t make sense. And that’s where the miracle happened.
It teaches us that sometimes the breakthrough is not in doing more, but in listening to the right voice.
After the crucifixion, when hope was shaken, Peter went back to fishing. In John 21, Jesus meets him again in that same space of failure and routine. Once again, He tells him where to cast the net and once again, the miracle happens.
The message is clear: you can do everything you know and still come up empty without Jesus. But when He speaks, even the same place that gave you nothing can produce overflow.
The same waters. The same Peter. The difference was Jesus.
Trust Him beyond your understanding. Stay in your calling. Don’t go back.
