*Devotion 3: Wednesday, 3rd June – Peace Beyond Understanding*

*Scripture:*
Numbers 6:26 – "The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace."

*Reflection:*
The Hebrew word for peace is Shalom—not just the absence of conflict, but the presence of wholeness, completion, flourishing. It is the sound of waves settling after a storm. It is a reconciled family. It is a soul that trusts God even when life is hard. Notice: peace is the last word of the blessing. It is the goal. God doesn't just give you instructions or rules. He gives you Shalom. And He gives it by turning His face toward you. You don't have to chase peace. Peace chases you.

*Question:*
What would change in your life today if you truly believed God's face is turned toward you?

*Action:*
Before you go to sleep tonight, sit in silence for two minutes. Breathe slowly. Each time your mind races, say softly: Shalom.

*Prayer:*
Prince of Peace, my mind is often noisy and my heart restless. Turn Your face toward me now. Speak Your Shalom over my sleepless thoughts. Amen.

*Devotion 2: Tuesday, 2nd June – The Face That Shines*

*Scripture:*
Numbers 6:25 – "The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you."

*Reflection:*
Just imagine after days of grey winter clouds, the sun finally breaks through over the Indian Ocean. That first light on your face—warm, welcome, life-giving. That is what God's face shining on you means. It means acceptance, not anger. It means delight, not disappointment. Many of us live as though God is squinting at us in disapproval. But the blessing says the opposite: His face shines. And "gracious" means you don't have to earn it. The sun doesn't shine because the beach deserves it. It shines because that is its nature. So does God.

*Question:*
Do you find it easier to believe God is gracious to others—or to you? Why?

*Action:*
Stand in the sunlight today (even if it's weak winter sun). Close your eyes. Whisper: Your face shines on me.

*Prayer:*
Sun of Righteousness, rise on me today. Let Your grace warm the cold corners of my heart. I stop hiding. I receive Your shining face. Amen.

*Devotion 1: Monday, 1st June – The God Who Keeps*

*Scripture:* Numbers 6:24 – "The Lord bless you and keep you."

*Reflection:*
The blessing begins not with what you do for God, but with what God does for you. "Keep" in Hebrew (shamar) means to guard, to protect, to watch over like a shepherd watching the flock through the night. Here in Beacon Bay, we know the power of the sea—how it can be calm one moment and wild the next. But the same God who keeps the ocean within its shores is keeping you. Not keeping you from all struggle, but keeping you in every struggle. You are not drifting. You are held.

*Question:*
Where do you most need to feel God's keeping hand today—in your health, your family, your finances, or your heart?

*Action:*
Look at the ocean (or a picture of it). Let the vastness remind you: the God who holds all that water holds you.

*Prayer:*
Keeper of Israel, You never sleep. Keep me this day—my going out and my lying down. When I feel unmoored, remind me that I am held in Your strong hand. Amen.

🌤️ TRINITY SUNDAY | WHEN GOD'S BLESSING BREAKS THROUGH

As autumn gives way to winter, many of us know what it feels like to wake up to cold, grey, overcast mornings. Everything can seem dull and lifeless. Yet when the sun suddenly breaks through the clouds, something changes. The light returns. The warmth returns. Hope feels a little closer again.

Life can be like that too.

There are seasons when we carry burdens that others cannot see. Worries about family, work, finances, health, relationships, or the future can leave us feeling weary and overwhelmed. Sometimes we struggle with doubt, loneliness, disappointment, or the feeling that God is far away.

Into those moments, God speaks His blessing:

"The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace."
(Numbers 6:24-26)

This ancient blessing reminds us of the wonderful promise of the Triune God.

✨ The Father’s Blessing Breaks Through
We live in a world that often tells us that everything depends on us. We are expected to succeed, perform, achieve, and keep everything together. Yet God reminds us that our lives ultimately rest in His hands. The Father blesses us and keeps us. His care is not earned. It is given freely through His love and faithfulness.

✨ The Son’s Grace Breaks Through
There are times when we wonder if God could really love us after our failures and shortcomings. Yet in Jesus Christ we see God's heart for His people. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Christ reveals a grace that forgives, restores, heals, and renews. God's face shines upon us not with condemnation, but with mercy and love.

✨ The Holy Spirit’s Peace Breaks Through
The Holy Spirit walks with us through every season of life. He strengthens tired hearts, comforts us in our struggles, and reminds us that we belong to God. His peace is not the absence of problems but the assurance that God remains with us in the midst of them.

As we begin a new week, we do not leave empty-handed. We leave under God's blessing.

We are held by the Father.
We are forgiven through the Son.
We are strengthened by the Holy Spirit.

Whatever lies ahead this week, remember: the Triune God goes with you.

🙏 May God's blessing break through every cloud of fear, doubt, weariness, and uncertainty with His light, warmth, grace, and peace.

Friday 29th of May
The Spirit Who Makes Us One Bread

Scripture:
1 Corinthians 12:13 – “For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body – Jews or Greeks, slaves or free – and all were made to drink of one Spirit.”

Reflection:
In Porto Alegre, Ps Armin watched a bishop from Ghana and a farmer from Brazil share communion. They could not speak each other’s language. But when the bread was broken, they both whispered: “Amen.” The Holy Spirit does not make us all think the same way. The Spirit makes us all hungry for the same Jesus. Here at St. Crucis, St. Johns and St Andrews, we may disagree about politics, music, or how to run a meeting. But at the altar, we are one body. That is not our doing. That is the Spirit’s miracle.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus when I receive your body and blood, you make me one with every Christian who has ever lived – even the ones I find difficult. Heal my divisions. Amen.

Action:
Think of one person in this congregation who is hard for you to love. Pray for them by name today. Ask the Spirit to help you see them as part of your own body.

The Spirit Who Comforts in Grief

Scripture:
John 14:16–17 – “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth.”

Reflection:
Jesus called the Holy Spirit the “Paracletos” – one who comes alongside. The word means comforter, advocate, helper, counselor. When you grieve a loss – a loved one, a marriage, a dream, your health – the Spirit does not shout instructions. The Spirit sits beside you in silence. At the Porto Alegre assembly, Ps Armin interpreted for a woman from Rwanda who had lost her family in the genocide. She said: “The Spirit did not take away my tears. The Spirit gave me someone to cry with.” That is the comforter. You are never alone.

Prayer:
Spirit of Comfort, you know the wounds I carry. Wrap yourself around me today. Send me someone to walk alongside – or make me that someone for another. Amen.

Action:
Reach out to one person you know who is grieving. Do not try to fix them. Just say: “I am thinking of you today.”

The Spirit Who Gives Boldness

Scripture: Acts 2:14 – “But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them.”

Reflection:
Before Pentecost, Peter was hiding behind locked doors. He had denied Jesus three times. He was afraid of a servant girl’s question. Then the Spirit came – and the same Peter stood up before thousands of people and preached. The Spirit did not remove Peter’s fear. The Spirit gave him courage to speak anyway. You may feel shy about your faith. You may worry that you don’t know enough Bible verses. But the Spirit is not looking for experts. The Spirit is looking for willing hearts. Open your mouth. The Spirit will give the words.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, I am often afraid to speak about Jesus. Give me not the absence of fear, but the presence of courage. Use my small voice. Amen.

Action:
Send a short text message or say a simple sentence to someone today: “I prayed for you.” That is Pentecost boldness.

Tuesday 26th of May
The Spirit Who Unites Different People

Scripture:
Acts 2:5–11 – “Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia… we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.”

Reflection:
At the Pentecost assembly in Porto Alegre in 2026, a interpreter would sit in a booth with people from Angola, Korea, Germany, and Ghana. They did not share a language. But they shared one bread and one cup. The Spirit did not erase our differences – the Spirit spoke through them. Here at St. Crucis, St John’s and St. Andrews, we come from British, German, Afrikaans, and many other backgrounds. The Spirit does not ask us to become identical. The Spirit asks us to listen – really listen – to the way God speaks through someone who is not like us. That is the miracle of Pentecost.

Prayer:
Lord, forgive me for staying only with people who sound like me. Open my ears to hear your mighty works in the accents and languages of my neighbors. Amen.

Action:
Today, greet someone at the shop, at work, or in your street who speaks with a different accent. Ask them one simple question: “Where did you grow up?” Then listen.
