We live in a world where statistically young people are leading the numbers when it comes to mental illness. There are many factors that contribute to this, it may be because of unhealthy family conditions, getting into relationships prematurely, wrong friends etc.

However, today I want us to take counsel from these words of one of the great men that walked this world. Living in times where it was easy to carry hate and feelings of anger, yet, he says hate is a great burden to bear. It is our prayer that as young people we make the decision to stop harbouring negative feelings so that we may start living our lives in peace, joy and happiness. The church requires our fullness. May forgiveness be our portion.

When there was a problem that was affecting the nation. When fear was creeping in and the nation knew not where help with come from. A young man by the name of David showed up and reminded the nation where their help comes from. He stood when all odds where against him, but his trust in the Lord was enough to make him face the problem and conquer it.

Young people, we are the church today, we need not to be fearful, but we need to put our trust in the Lord, stand even such a time. Who knows all hope may come from us.

May the Davids of our time rise up. Seek and yearn for the heart of Lord.

Today's message comes from Mfundo Mabena, a Youth member with great potential:

Are you God's child?
Simply put, God's children are those who follow God's word and live a Godly life. Here are some of the characteristics of God's children:

2 Timothy 2:19
"But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.”
°From this we can see that God's children are not associated with evil because God is as far away from sin as the east is from the west.

Numbers 16:5
"Then he said to Korah and his followers, 'Tomorrow morning the Lord will show us who belongs to him and who is holy. The Lord will allow only those whom he selects to enter his own presence.'"
°God's children are those in His presence.

Isaiah 52:11
"Get out! Get out and leave your captivity, where everything you touch is unclean. Get out of there and purify yourselves, you who carry home the sacred objects of the Lord."
°When I read this scripture I thought about what "captivity" is and the first word that popped in my head was 'sin'. I also thought about what "sacred objects" could be and I associated that with our bodies, which are supposed to be sacred and holy because they belong to the Lord.

2 Corinthians 6:17
"Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you."
°God's children do not associate themselves with unbelievers
John 10:14
"I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me,"
°God's children know Jesus and are known by Jesus, because the only way to the Father is through Jesus.

1 John 2:29
"Since we know that Christ is righteous, we also know that all who do what is right are God’s children."
°God's children are righteous.

Ladies and gentlemen if we claim to be children of God, then the principles mentioned above are what we should live by all the time, not only when it suits us. To wrap it up, please go and read 1John 4:7-8
