OUR VALUES:

We believe that anointed teaching is the catalyst for transformation in individuals’ lives in the church. This includes the concept of teaching for life change – Romans 12:7, 2 Timothy 3:16, James 1:23-25. We believe that lost people matter to God, and therefore should matter to the church. We believe that the church should be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure. This

includes the concepts of relating to our culture through our facility, printed materials, and programmes – 1 Corinthians 9:19-23. We believe that Christ-followers should be doers of the word and yearn for continuous growth. We believe that a church should operate as a unified community of servants stewarding their spiritual gifts. We believe that loving relationships should permeate every aspect of the church. We believe that life-change happens best in small groups. We believe that excellence honours God and inspires people. We believe that churches should be led by men and women with leadership gifts. We believe that the pursuit of full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer.

Read - John 6:5-13

“Another of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s
brother spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small
barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will
they go among so many?”” vs 8-9

In this story, Andrew draws Jesus’s attention to a
child. Jesus has just asked the disciples about
buying bread for the multitude and Philip was
astonished at this suggestion. I imagine that the
little boy heard this conversation and wanted to
help Jesus by sharing his lunch. He obviously told
Andrew about his suggested solution to the
feeding problem. Many men would have laughed
at the child and sent him away. Andrew, although
emphasizing that the few loaves were small and
the two fish were small, honoured the little chap’s
offering, by bringing him and his lunch to Jesus.

Andrew seems to have understood Jesus’s
teaching which we read about in Matthew 18:5:
“Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my
name welcomes me.”

As we know, Jesus has a very soft spot in His
heart for children. Are we teaching children about
Jesus and His love for them? Our Sunday Schools
are always on the lookout for congregation
members who love children and who would be
willing to lead them on a Sunday morning. Is God
prompting you to do this very special work?

Drawing children to Jesus is the highest calling.
Setting them off into their lives with a commitment
to Christ, is the best gift any adult could give a
child. Andrew sets us a great example. Let’s look
out for children who need to be introduced to the
greatest Friend they will ever have.

Prayer: God bless the children of our land.

Read - John 1:35-42

“Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the
two who heard what John had said and who had
followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to
find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have
found the Messiah” (that is the Christ). And he
brought him to Jesus.” vs 40-41

The disciple, Andrew, is not mentioned as often as
his brother, Peter, but when he is mentioned, he is
often introducing others to Jesus.

In the verses highlighted above, it is wonderful to
see that the FIRST thing Andrew did after meeting
Jesus was to bring his brother to Him. He knew
that this man, Jesus, was a profoundly important
person, and he wanted to share his discovery.

It is not easy to share the Gospel with members of
our own families. Sometimes they are the last
ones to listen to us, but we should always begin at
home. Our witness to those nearest to us is the
most important one. They see us for what we truly
are. Our witness needs to be consistent as we
share the difference that Jesus has made in our
lives.

Another important word in the text is FIND.
Andrew probably didn’t have to look far to find
Peter, but the fact is that Jesus is in the business
of seeking and finding the lost. It is a priority for us
to partner with Jesus in this process. He needs us
to be open and ready to introduce those who are
‘lost’ to the One who can save them. What a
privilege to draw others to Jesus!

Prayer: Lord, show me how to draw my loved ones to You. I long for them to have a relationship with You. Give me the words, Lord Jesus, show me the way.

Read - Acts 2:14-41

“With many other words he (Peter) warned them
and he pleaded with them,” Save yourselves from
this corrupt generation”. Those who accepted his
message were baptized and about three thousand
were added to their number that day”. vs 40-41

After Pentecost, the ones who were gathered
together were full of the power of the Holy Spirit.
How wonderful to be so filled and inspired that you
stand up in front of a crowd of people and preach.
You preach so powerfully, that three thousand
people give their lives to Christ!

I wonder if the era of great evangelists like
Reinhardt Bonker and Billy Graham are over now?
Many, unfortunately, have been damaged by
modern preachers and evangelists who seem
motivated by self-centred ambitions. Am I too
cynical? I am sure there are many who are
motivated from a pure heart to preach the Gospel
and only the Gospel.

We desperately need the Holy Spirit to empower
us anew each day. We need to learn to submit to
His leadership and prompting. Are we obedient
when we have an opportunity to speak for Jesus?
Have you ever had the privilege to lead someone
to Christ?

May I challenge you to begin to pray that God will
prepare the heart of someone in your life for a
word from Him? We then pray for ourselves that
we will be ready. 1 Peter 3:15 “Always be
prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks
you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
But do this with gentleness and respect.”

Prayer: Jesus, I pray that I will draw people to
You through my obedience to Your prompting.

Reading - Romans 8:31-39

Christ Jesus, who died - more than that, who was raised to life - is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? v34-35

The resurrection and ascension of Jesus assures us of two things as we live out our lives and seek to work for God: that He constantly prays for us, and that He watches over us to protect us from ultimate harm.

The ascended Jesus prays for us from His throne in Heaven. Have you ever thought seriously about this - that even now, Jesus is praying for you and me. He wants the best for us. That is what He prays for.

He also prays for our protection from the evil one. I invite you to pause for a moment and thank Him for the love that constantly holds us up in prayer. Try to picture Him praying for you. What do you think He prays for?

Also, nothing can separate us from God’s love. Not even dying, because Christ is victorious over sin and death. As Christ-followers, we are not exempt from suffering, hardship, or persecution, but when we go through these things, we will come through them safely if we stay faithful and keep our hand in His hand. Even if we are physically harmed, nothing can damage our souls.

What difficulties and problems are you going through at the moment? Give them to Jesus now, and ask Him to fill you with peace, knowing that they will not defeat you.

Though we pass through tribulation, all will be well.
Mary Peters
