Baptism by immersion in water by one having authority is necessary for a person to become a member of the Church and receive the Holy Ghost. All who seek exaltation must follow the example of the Savior by receiving these ordinances.

See Matthew 3:13–17

13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

President Joseph Fielding Smith said that “. . . the sacrament meeting is the most sacred, the most holy, of all the meetings of the Church”.

We invite all to join us for sacrament each Sunday. We look forward to seeing many there at this most sacred of all meetings.

In February 2023 severe flooding in six South African provinces impacted over 29,000 people and destroyed over 6,400 homes causing a national state of emergency to be declared.

In response to the recent disaster, local leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Africa South, Elder Edward Dube (Area President), Elder Denelson Silva (second counsellor in the Area Presidency), and Ephraim Msane (Area Seventy) recently met with Lindiwe Zulu, Minister of Social Development in South Africa, to discuss ways the Church could assist in relief efforts.

Elder Dube expressed concern for those affected and committed to working with the Department of Social Development to identify ways the Church can provide assistance.
