Thought for today
06/11/2024

We know that the Bible teach us that we cannot please God if we do not have faith. In fact, the scripture in Hebrews 11:6 goes as far as saying that it is impossible to please God without faith.

But get this! 1 Corinthians 13:13 elevates love above faith!! The Word of God actually says that your ministry, your work, your effort, your possessions and even your faith means nothing if you are unable to love your neighbour.

Galatians 5:14 teaches that love is the fulfilment of everything God desires from us!!

But the love the Bible speaks about here in not what the world have made love to be. It is not that selfish, “what can I get out of it” or worse “what I deserve to get out of it” emotional feeling. Agape love is an outflow of God’s love, through you to even the most undeserving characters around you.
Let us have a look at how the Bible describes love in 1 Corinthians 13:1-13.
Verse 1 – 3 states that even if you do all the other things 100% correct and you do not have love, you have absolutely nothing. So what is this love?
1. It is patient - even if things go wrong, love stays in peace
2. It is kind – even if others are not
3. It does not envy - It is happy with Gods blessings, even if it looks different from yours.
4. It does not boast – but rather covers a multitude of sins
5. It is not proud – and does not tell other constantly about their splinter
6. It does not dishonour others – with gossip, lies, innuendo or curses7. It is not self-seeking – for it cares more for others than self
8. It is not easily angered – but stay kind, stay patient, stay hopeful
9. It keeps no record of wrongs - but forgives and takes the offence off the table, just like their Father
10. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth – for the truth sets free and evil kills, steals and destroys.11. It always protects – also against slander and gossip
12. It always trusts – looking for things that are good and not focussing on things that are not good
13. It always hopes – and gives the benefit of doubt
14. It always perseveres – in the storm and in the calm
15. It never fails – even if everything goes wrong it does not surrender

1 Cor 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

It is hard to give thanks to the Lord when your eyes and your mind are on the things, issues and problems of this world. This world is designed to make us struggle, complain, give up hope, worry and live in strife. Phil 4:8 tells us where our attention should be focussed. The things above are designed to give us hope, strength, joy, peace and resilience.
To change your circumstamces you might just need to adjust your focus. Then, giving thanks in all things becomes a whole lot easier.
Shalom

The power of Blessing
16 October 2024

Gen 27:37 Isaac answered Esau, “I have made him lord over you and have made all his relatives his servants, and I have sustained him with grain and new wine.
This is an interesting verse. So easy to just read over. But it contains a revelation so powerful that it could change the course of someone’s life.
Isaac says to Esau that he has made Jacob lord over him, made all Esau’s relatives Jacob’s slaves and that he have sustained him with grain and new wine. But what did Isaac give Jacob?
He gave him nothing! Or this is what we would say today. Nothing changed hands.
It is however not entirely true that Isaac gave Jacob nothing. He gave him a blessing. He spoke words over him. That’s it. And then he tells Esau that he sustained him (provided for him).
The Old Testament patriarchs understood the power of words. They understood that words never mean nothing. They understood that words always have an effect, a course of action, a harvest.
They understood the power of blessing.
This power is also in your tongue. Are you constantly blessing your people and your loved ones? Are you telling them that they are worthy, enough, beautiful, wise, capable, special?
Are you prophesying their prosperity, their health, their peace, their security through blessing them?

If not, carefully consider your words that you do speak. Because the same tongue designed to bless also has the power to curse.

Have a blessed day.

Your Word for today
14 October 2024

Unbelief does not only hinder the unbelieving from receiving God’s best, but will also try to discourage the believer from believing the Word of God.

In Mark 5: 36- 43 the story of Jesus’ interaction with Jairus’ daughter is told. Many of us have read and heard this story so many times before, making us possibly greatly admire the Kingdom work Jesus accomplished.
While Jesus and his disciples were once more on the way, they received a message that the twelve-year-old girl had died. Jesus’ words are very important, "Don't be afraid; just believe." Jesus is stressing that anything is possible when we have faith.
When he got to Jairus’ house people had gathered in mourning and were preparing for the child’s funeral. The crowd laughed when Jesus claimed that the child was only sleeping and was not dead.
Jesus then went into the room with only three of his disciples and the girl’s parents. Jesus then took the girl by the hand and woke her up.
But have you noticed verse 40?
In exercising your faith you will encounter many “verse 40 people”. It is important that if you are truly serious about the manifestation of the Kingdom of God that you do what Jesus did. Take those who believe what you do, close the door, do the work and let God have the glory.

Have a supernatural Monday.

GOD WANTS YOU WELL
WEEK 3
18:00 – 19:00
5 Strapp Lane, Amanzimtoti

This week we will be looking at three important issues:
1. Why is there so much suffering in the world if God is in control?
2. What is spiritual authority? Who and what is it for?
3. How (if any) does a born again believer contribute to God’s work on earth?

These topics are some of the most debated in the Christian and non-Christian communities, BUT misunderstanding the truth also make them some of the greatest barriers in God’s will and work on earth.

See you tonight. Bring your journal and your Bible.
