Doncaster Circle members were saddened by the death of Raymond ‘Ray’ Carter on the 21st July 2026. Ray joined the Catenians in April 1976 and, following in the footsteps of his father-in-law and also president of Doncaster Circle, Martin Cawley, had been an enthusiastic Catenian for 50 years, holding office, including that of president, many times.

He was posthumously awarded his 50 year scroll by Gerard Buffham, current president, which was received by Ray's wife, Christine, on the 17th August.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory

🕊️ Breaking Bread, Building Bridges: Sheffield Hallamshire’s President’s Sunday 🍞✨
What a truly remarkable and unforgettable President’s Sunday Sheffield Hallamshire Circle experienced on 12th July at the Ranmoor Centre!

The day began with Mass at St Francis in Fulwood before everyone gathered at the centre. What followed was a wonderful, unexpected testament to the power of Catholic hospitality and community:

✝️ Unexpected Guests: Upon arriving at the hall, a service was finishing for a group of Iraqi converts from Islam to Anglicanism. Ever the welcoming host, President John invited them to stay and join the Circle for lunch—four of them stayed and had a fantastic time sharing fellowship.

🎶 Double the Blessing: As the team was tidying up after lunch, another group arrived to practice in one of the other rooms—a Jewish choir! Naturally, John got talking with them and promptly invited them to join in and share some food as well.

So there it was: Catholics, Iraqi Anglican converts, and a Jewish choir, all breaking bread, sharing food, and enjoying good conversation together under one roof.

In a world that often feels divided, perhaps there is a simple lesson here—maybe the wider world could learn a thing or two from just sitting down and breaking bread together! 🕊️🤝

A huge thank you to President John for his wonderful spirit of hospitality, and to everyone who made the day so special!

While reaching 100 years is a magnificent achievement, it is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to the Circle. Let us come together in full force to honor their rich legacy, celebrate a century of faith and friendship, and show our steadfast provincial support to all the Brothers and Ladies of Wetherby.

Brothers, Ladies, and friends across Province 3,

Over the weekend of 24th–27th July, Andrew Neal had the privilege of attending the WeBelieve Festival set in the historic and beautiful surroundings of St Mary’s College, Oscott—a true feast of the True, the Good, and the Beautiful! 🌹

The festival brought thousands of people together with a shared purpose: to encounter Jesus Christ in His Church. It was an unmissable experience to:

✝️ Discover the rich traditions and dynamic charisms flowing through the Church today

🤝 Grow in authentic Catholic community and fellowship

❤️ Encounter the transforming love of God

Events like these are a powerful testament to the vibrant faith and unity within our wider Catholic community. A huge thank you to Andrew for representing us and bringing back such inspiring updates!

​A massive congratulations to Grimsby Circle on an outstanding and surprising performance—they now secure their spot and go through to the Grand Final! 👏🎉

What a fantastic day spent together last Sunday for our annual Hallamshire Croquet Tournament!

We had a brilliant turnout with around 40 people joining in the fun, including a very welcome visiting guest. It was a true family affair, wonderful to see so many generations—children and grandchildren alike—enjoying the friendly competition and lovely atmosphere.

Thank you to everyone who came along, played, and helped make the day such a memorable success. Here's to next year's tournament! 🥂 mallets at the ready!

Two Harrogate Brothers Celebrate 50 Years as Catenians

Two Brothers from Harrogate Circle, Bros. Paul Bareham and Iain Stitt both celebrate 50 years membership of the Association this year and, fittingly, had their anniversary scrolls presented at Harrogate’s Annual Dinner by GB National President Richard Mills, who was accompanied by his wife Mary.

An excellent evening at the Crown Hotel was enjoyed by all and with two such distinguished Catenians being honoured, Bro. Richard’s tributes were extensive and entertaining, as were the responses from both Paul and Iain.

To make it a truly Catenian weekend, Bro President, Shaun Spencer and his Lady, Nicola hosted Presidents Sunday the following day, with Canapes, Nibbles and Fizz at the St Roberts Club, also attended by Bro. Richard and Mary.
