The restoration of the church, dedicated to the patron Saint Charles Borromeo, was made by the construction company Maria Serena Pacione; admirably conducted for about a year, brought back to its original structure entirely made of stone, dates back to 1622, when Bishop Carducci , visiting Colle Venatorio, now empty and cliff, walked in the nearby village of Carrufo, getting a great and warm welcome from the crowd, in the Chapel of St. Anthony, founded by Don Domenico De Luca di Villa Saint Lucia. Impressed, he ordered the expansion, dedicating it to St. Charles Borromeo, nephew of Pope Pius III Piccolomini, commendatory of St. Peter ad Oratorium. In 1875 Francesco Ciccone, miraculously received in an assault of bandits, he built the great nave of the Immaculate Conception.
In the early '50s, after the war, the building had already undergone a restoration, focusing on the concrete, had indeed returned solidity, but had deprived him of cultural references, a wooden choir, the wrought iron railings of stone columns in the part devoted to the organ, all created by local artists and craftsmen. Suggestive and austere is today the entire structure, all made of local stone that the agricultural and pastoral time, animated by religious fervor, had withdrawn from the surrounding mountains and transported manually at great sacrifice.
Inside of the two aisles stand the "Madonnella of Mercy" from Colle Venatorio, a small pulpit made in the old style and a restored eighteenth-century painting of St. Charles for a few years.
