Most leaders think recruiting more volunteers will create more margin.

It doesn't

What actually happens: the team grows, the weight grows with it — more relationships to hold, more people to pastor, more responsibility for outcomes that depend on people who aren't paid to show up.

Nobody warned you about that part.
