Jimmy Weitzel brings us a message from John the Baptist this Sunday: prepare the way for the Lord.
Week 2 of - John the Baptist.
500 years of silence. Then John. He is the last of the Old Testament prophets. Let’s compare him to those who came before him. He takes people into the water to be reborn as a symbol of their repentance. How do you wait when the discomfort of change is upon you? Who are the prophets who make you uncomfortable? Can you stay in that discomfort and be changed?
Join us on Sundays during (circleofhope.net/locations/), as we look back into the Old Testament to see the repeating story of God’s salvation, culminating in Jesus; from Israelite slavery and exile, to the birth of the savior, to our own time and context. We long for Jesus to make his kingdom where we live.
The theme of deliverance is elemental to the gospel accounts of Jesus’ birth. The New Testament writers understood God’s self-revelation in Jesus as a retelling and expansion of the promised deliverance that began in the Exodus narrative. God rescues God’s people.
