May 24, 2026 is Pentecost Sunday - the birth of the Church, 2000 years ago. It also happens to be the Aldersgate Sunday for the Methodists worldwide who are commemorating their founding leader John Wesley's pivotal spiritual milestone on this day in 1738.

Now let us get to know more about the Pentecost Feast of Israel.
The word "Pentecost" in Greek means “50th” Day.
Shavu’ot in Hebrew means “Weeks”. It is the “Feast of Weeks” - a 7 full weeks after the First-fruits Feast plus one day for a 50 days – also one of the three pilgrimage festivals (a harvest party) of Israel.

In Acts 2, Luke recorded the phenomenon happened on the Pentecost Festival held in Jerusalem 2000 years ago. There was an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on 120 disciples of Jesus who experienced a mighty phenomenon on that day and Peter explained to the massive crowd that God has poured out His Spirit on all His people in the Last Days as prophesied by Joel of Old. The motifs and patterns narrated by Luke are no stranger to the Jewish believers.

We have
the Audible Sign – Heard a sound like a mighty, rushing wind (Acts2:2). Wind = Spirit
the Visible Sign – Saw like tongues/flames of fire (Acts:3).
Fire = Presence of God
the Verbal Sign - Speaking in tongues (Acts 2:4).
They were hearing great things God has done or praises to God (Acts 2:11).
The signs that happened seemed to be alluding to the event on Mt Sinai when God was giving out His Laws to Moses. They indicated the presence and the power of God. In this Upper Room event Gowas giving out His Spirit to His New Covenant people. God's united people from all over the world are now empowered to be a new movement of Christ to go to every part of the world to make disciples for Jesus and to teach everything Jesus has taught them. They were to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature till the return of Christ.

What an exciting and momentous milestone for the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Let us not be a people of religious form that only can appreciate the history of our Church but instead let us know how to live our present lives that manifest the presence and power of God wherever God has placed us.

May we keep on being filled with the fullness of the Holy Spirit to go forth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

Christians worldwide observed the Lenten Season that starts on Ash Wednesday 18th February by fasting, prayer, reflection and good works and will end on Holy Thursday, 2nd April. This season helps us to focus on repentance and spiritual renewal.

ICF will be holding the Good Friday Service on 3rd April, 7:30 PM at the To Hien Thanh Evangelical Church ground floor. This service is to reflect, remember and identify with the suffering of Christ. It is good because the Son of God had suffered and died on the Cross for the sin of the world. Putting our faith in the death of Christ we will receive the free gift of salvation and will spend our eternity with our Creator God in heaven. And that is good news for us, the human race.

On 5th April, Easter Celebration Service, we will celebrate the resurrection of Christ after 40 days of fasting and prayers. The greatest good news is Jesus Christ did not only die for our sins but He arose to conquer death, the greatest enemy of the human race, and we can receive the free gift of salvation - eternal life with the Creator God - if we agree with God's way of providing us His way to escape our second death. We only need to put our trust in Jesus Christ and we will spend our eternity in Heaven.

We worship at ICF Sanctuary Ground Floor of the To Hien Thanh Evangelical Church, 453 To Hien Thanh Street, District 10, HCMC.

The Most Important and Longest Festival Celebrated in Vietnam is Tết (Tết Nguyên Đán) the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival. This year will be on 17th February 2026.

Tết signifies a new beginnings, focuses on family reunions and ancestral reverence. Family is foremost important to the people of Vietnam. So similar to the teachings of Christ, we are to honour and respect our parents and be a filial child fulfilling our duties to take care of our family.

We get together with our family members and relatives during this time to celebrate with gratefulness of our family ties and anticipation of a new fresh start (adorning new clothes; cleaning of the house; etc.) and prosperity (giving and receiving of Lì Xì, the monetary gifts in red envelops). As Christians, we too gather together as a family at the Lord's Table (Holy Communion) to commemorate with grateful hearts and to celebrate victoriously what Christ had done for us on the Cross. We honour our Heavenly Father by righteous living, in an other word, we live in readiness with a heart of high anticipation of the second coming of Christ.

As Titus 2:13 (ESV) points out: "waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ".

Family, on that New Day we too will be rewarded with great rewards when we meet up with our Heavenly Father.

Meanwhile on this side of the world, due to the long holiday in Vietnam, we will not be having any Sunday Service on 15th and 22nd February 2026. We will resume our Sunday Service on the 1st March 2026, 11 AM.

We are a licensed International Interdenominational English-Speaking church. All foreigners and friends are welcome.

COME TO ME AND DRINK! - JESUS

The Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) is one of the important feasts in the Bible. It is a time for the people of God to gather together to remember God's deliverance and provision in the desert in the past. Yet there is hope that is we are to look ahead to that promised Messianic age when all nations will come to Jerusalem to worship the LORD.

As Christians, we believe this feast inspires us to live closely to our Lord Jesus in anticipating His glorious return. We are not to be too complacent and sluggish in our daily living in this temporal world. We are to hunger for the Lord Jesus, His Kingdom and righteousness so much more than we are pursuing the worldly attractions.

In the Chapter 7 of the Gospel of John, let us hear the invitation of Jesus to us:
On the last and most important day of the feast (of Tabernacles) Jesus stood up and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to Me and drink. If anyone believes in Me, rivers of living water will flow out from that person’s heart, as the Scripture says.”

What is one of the most essential items in the desert? Water?!
Only Jesus can fully satisfied us. Stop wandering, and getting lost in the desert no more. Gird ourselves and start moving under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and follow everything that Jesus has taught us in the Bible. Be courageous, keep moving on with Jesus.

Then we will be able to understand that our lives on earth is temporary when we come to Jesus and drink of Him...wow... There will be a deep supernatural, significant transformation taking place in our inner beings, that is, we will be fully refreshed, and enter into our rest.

We no longer wanting for something illusive but now we will live our lives in holiness and in honour of our King. A Spirit-filled life worth living that anticipates the coming back of our King!

15/08/2025

I am wondering how the Israelites were feeling when they were about to exit Egypt. Did they reminisce about their lives in Egypt for the past decades, not to mention four centuries had passed? How much longsufferings and lamentations they must have cried to their God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when they were made slaves? Were the Israelites ready to leave Egypt for a new place? Have you ever wondered if you would be courageous enough to walk out of a very depressive but familiar environment to a new place? Is it easier to be in a comfort zone than to venture out to a new unfamiliar uncertain environment?

This coming Sunday (August 17th), are we ready to go to a new church location to worship God? Will we be able to adapt ourselves and exit our comfort zone (familiar surroundings) to worship God? Well, we must remember our true worship is no longer defined by any exact physical site. The altar of worship is in our heart. When we worship, we need to be sure that the holy Presence of God is there. If He is not there, no matter how glamorous the building is, it is a dead church. We carry the Presence of God with us and when we worship Him we worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

This coming Sunday, it is not about a new place of worship but we, the people of God, must cry to God to create a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us so that we continue to bring the Presence of God with us to be where He is and there we worship Him - King of Kings and Lord of Lords. To God be the glory!

The journey with Christ towards Resurrection Sunday has begun yesterday, Ash Wednesday. Take these 40 days (excluding the weekends) of Lent to reflect, repent and renew in the promises of Christ our Saviour and Redeemer. We shall find refuge and solace in Him, as solid as a rock, as soothing as the gentle breeze, as refreshing as living water that gushes out of the fountain.

I am reminded of what the great late German Reformer, Martin Luther, said: "When I look at myself, I don't know how I can be saved. When I look at my Christ, I don't know how I can be lost."

Let this journey of experiencing Christ be penitent to appreciate how sin is so costly but at the same time a journey to be joyous as you enjoy the salvation of the Lord in your new life in Him.

Blessed Lent Season!

ICF is a licensed English-Speaking International Interdenominational Church in Ward 15, District 10. Sunday Service starts at 11 AM unless otherwise stated.
