I come from a matrilineal culture, which may give context for what I will suggest: an intentional circle of women praying together for an Emergence to take place. In indigenous wisdom an Emergence is a spiritual transition. It is an evolutionary step up from one level of life to another. It is a shift, a movement, a transformation. Women are gifted to be especially sensitive to these sacred moments. They are catalysts for change. Therefore, I invite women from around the world to join in a sisterhood of prayer: all focused on taking us from the reality in which we now struggle to the next level of our common hope. Mother Earth is at the center of this circle. Sisters, please help her birth a better tomorrow for us all.

As spiritual medics we use, what my ancestors called, good medicine. Spiritual medicine that heals, restores, and strengthens. We transmit this medicine to others through loving contact: a laying on of hands, a kind word, a prayer, a gift of time to sit together in shared hope. Good medicine can touch one person or a thousand. Once released, it flows like light through the dark spaces of sorrow. In times like these, we are all called to use what we have to protect and to heal. And we will be needed even more in the days to come. So check your inventory of love and join me in the fields of struggle.

The 106th Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally has been installed at Canterbury Cathedral in a service that gathered Primates and Anglican representatives from all around the world.

Her inaugural sermon appealed for the global church to respond to the call of Christ: β€˜Our world today needs the love, healing and hope that we find in Jesus Christ. I continue to pray that we renew our confidence in this good news, and recommit ourselves to sharing the joy of the Gospel.’

She called for: β€˜A church for the whole nation and for the world, which looks for ways of joining with people of all faiths and none, in acts of service that will transform. A church which extends around the world, with our sister churches in the Anglican Communion, as part of the one holy, catholic and apostolic Church, to embody Christ’s love.’

This is about a fundamental flaw in how we teach faith to children. A flaw that starts destroying their belief when they're just 8 years old.

The Government of Jamaica is preparing to declare the island a disaster area as Tropical Storm Melissa continues to threaten with intensifying strength and lingering impact. Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says the move reflects the seriousness of the situation and the need to mobilise all national resources for preparedness and response. οΏΌ

The emergency designation will allow for broader coordination of shelters, utilities, and road-clearing teams, as the island’s emergency management systems stand on heightened alert. Officials report that all relevant ministries and agencies are now fully engaged and monitoring developments closely. οΏΌ

Residents are being urged to act now: secure loose items, ensure you have supplies and a safe plan, and stay tuned to official updates from the Meteorological Service of Jamaica and the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management.

I’m gravely concerned for Jamaica. Melissa has the potential to become to the worst hurricane to strike Jamaica since Gilbert in 1988. We are talking about a slow-moving major hurricane passing near if not directly over the island this weekend into early next week β€” potentially as a Category 4 or 5. Everyone in Jamaica should be preparing for a major hurricane strike with a long duration of hurricane conditions lasting 2-3+ days Saturday/Sunday into Monday/Tuesday next week. All preparations to protect life and property should be completed by this weekend. Multiple days of non-perishable food, water, and medicine will be needed. Check with local officials for evacuation orders. Catastrophic flooding & mudslides from multiple feet of rain are my biggest concern. Storm surge is another threat depending on the exact track. You can hide from the wind, but you can’t from the water. With this being a major hurricane, wind will cause significant damage to infrastructure and even the strongest of buildings. Please take this storm seriously if you live in Jamaica. The best thing you can do is prepare now!
