The Farmington New Mexico Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has opened its doors for public tours. Starting with a media day on Monday, July 14, the public has been invited to tour what will become New Mexico’s second house of the Lord, prior to its Aug. 17 dedication.

Missionary work among New Mexico’s Native Americans began as early as the 1860s. In 1876, over 100 Zuni people in the Ramah area were baptized. The state’s first stake, the Young Stake, was established in May 1912.

As the Farmington New Mexico Temple opens for public tours prior to its Aug. 17 dedication, the Church has released interior and exterior photos.

A public open house for the Farmington New Mexico Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will run from July 17–Aug. 2, 2025. We welcome everyone of all ages and faiths to come and learn about the temple. Free tours run daily, excluding Sundays, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., across from San Juan College in Farmington. The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the dates for the open house and dedication of the Farmington New Mexico Temple, which will be the state’s second house of the Lord. The public open house starts Thursday, July 17, and runs through Saturday, Aug. 2, excluding Sundays.

Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the Farmington New Mexico Temple on Sunday, Aug. 17, with the single dedicatory session to be broadcast to all units in the temple district.

Prior to the dedication, a media day, a series of tours and a public open house will be held at the recently completed house of the Lord.

A media day is planned for Monday, July 14, with invited guests to tour the temple Tuesday and Wednesday, July 15-16.

The temple will be the New Mexico’s second, joining the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple, which was dedicated in March 2000. Nearly 70,000 Latter-day Saints reside in New Mexico, spread across almost 140 congregations.

However, the temple will serve not only members in New Mexico but also Latter-day Saints from the Four Corners region of the southwestern United States, including parts of Colorado, Arizona, the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo, and other surrounding Tribes and Pueblos.

2 Nephi 33:10-11
