Welcome to the Month of Everyday Living

Weekly Message Highlights: “What's Your Why?”

In this life, we are each tasked to figure out why we are here. What is it that makes us unique and special and how are we to share that gift with the world?—Sorensen & Economou, Wholehearted Living

Those who take the time to figure this out experience greater fulfillment and peace of mind and heart than those who do not.

It takes time and courage to do some self-exploration but once we look deeply at what matters and we explore what we are passionate about, we can begin to see how who we are fits into life.

Who do you want to be in the world? How do you want to show up? How do you want to be remembered? Answering these kinds of questions will support you in developing an overarching vision for yourself and what you want to create in your life.

Taking the time to inquire within will allow you to see yourself from a different perspective. It will help you understand the 'why' behind all the things you do. This leads us to a deep realization of who we are and an understanding of what's important to us.

When you know your why, you step forward empowered from a state of wholeness and create what you desire.

Affirmation
I listen deeply to my heart and open to my why! And So It Is!

Welcome to the Month of Everyday Living

Weekly Message Highlights: “I Got It, or Do I”

Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have. Make the Now the primary focus of your life.—Eckhart Tolle

After more than a decade of training, a disciple attained the level of Zen Teacher. Excited to go back and share the news with one of his early Master Teachers, he entered the house where the Master greeted him.—Sorensen and Economou, Wholehearted Living

The Master asked his student if he had left his sandals and umbrella on the porch. "Of course," the new teacher responded.

"Tell me then," the Master continued, "Did you leave your umbrella to the left or the right of your sandals?”

The new teacher realized he did not know the answer, and thus had not attained full awareness. He stayed to study with the Zen Master for the next decade.

It's not how much you practice something, it's how much of yourself you put into the practice that matters most.

Calm.

Welcome to the Month of Caring

Weekly Message Highlights: “Wired to Connect

A deep sense of love and belonging is an irreducible need of all people. We are biologically, cognitively, physically, and spiritually wired to love, to be loved, and to belong.—Brené Brown

One of the things we, as a society, learned during the COVID-19 pandemic was that building a strong sense of community for ourselves is tremendously important.
Sorensen & Economou, Wholehearted Living

We all experienced shock when we were unable to participate in the communities we'd established for ourselves. Many sank into loneliness, depression and some, despair.
Humanity is wired to thrive in community.

In community we can be ourselves, find comfort and solace during challenging times, and serve and live together in harmony.

Many people have one or two communities they think are their own including church, school, friend circles, etc. In truth, we build community wherever we are including in line at the grocery store, on a train and even in the waiting room at a doctor's office.

Participating in community gives you a place to give and receive. You can be present for others and at the same time benefit from other's support and kindness.

The most important part of building community is embracing the idea that we are all in this together and when we connect at the level of heart, anything is possible.

Affirmation
I participate fully and freely in all the communities in my life! And So It Is!

Welcome to the Month of Caring

Weekly Message Highlights: “What are you Practicing?

What you practice, you improve. It's that simple. Just as a blacksmith needs years and countless hours of practice to evolve from making clumsy imperfect items in crafting beautiful, intricately designed works of art, we also need committed and consistent practice to apply spiritual practice in our lives.—Sorensen & Economou, Wholehearted Living

Committing to your growth and development isn't always easy but the hours of self-reflection, meditation, and prayer will pay off in the unfoldment of your life.

So, the question for today is: What are you practicing? Are you practicing how to worry, criticize yourself, or catastrophize about your life?

Or, are you practicing trust in the Universe, confidence in your own abilities, and claiming your worthiness?

Your mind is always working, and when you think of it as always practicing something, you can better direct your thoughts to those that will nurture and support you in moving in the direction of your desire.

We are intelligent beings living in an intelligent universe which responds to our mental states, and insofar as we learn to control those mental states, we shall automatically control our environment. This is what is meant by the practical application of the principles of Science of Mind to the problems of everyday living. -
"Can We Talk to God?" Ernest Holmes

Spiritual Contemplation
•Today, be conscious and deliberate about what you are thinking and practicing in your life.

Affirmation
What I practice, I get better at!
Today, I practice knowing my worthiness and know I can build a life of joy. And So It Is!

Welcome to the Month of Caring

Weekly Message Highlights: “Easter”

To practice the Presence of God is to awaken within us the Christ Consciousness. Christ is God in the soul of man. The resurrection is the death of the belief that we are separated from God.—Ernest Holmes

The date upon which Easter is held varies from year to year and corresponds with the first Sunday following the full moon after the March equinox.—Sorensen and Economou, Wholehearted Living

The word Easter is of Saxon origin, Eastra, meaning the goddess of spring. Often the Easter story of crucifixion and resurrection is considered a symbolic renewal and rebirth telling of a cycle of the seasons, and the return of the sun.

It is a story from the beginning of recorded time. Some feel the Sumerian epic myth, the Descent of Inanna, inscribed on clay tablets dated 2100 B.C., influences some springtime celebrations.

The legend tells of Inanna's journey through the underworld, in which she is judged, killed and then hung on display. In her absence the earth loses its fertility, crops no longer grow and animals stop reproducing until she returns.

It's only one of many returning spring stories. The Babylonians have their story of Ishtar, the Goddess of Love, who descended into the Underworld to find and release her lover, Tammuz.

There is the Greek myth of Demeter and Persephone representing the three-phase cycle of descent or loss, search, and with the main theme being ascent.

Other springtime resurrection stories include Egypt's Horus or Persia's Mithras, where the prevailing theme is one of renewal, descent into darkness, and the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

When a story transcends cultures and time, its personal relevance is worthy of self-reflection.

Ernest Holmes, the founder of the Science of Mind movement, viewed Easter not merely as a religious commemoration but a profound spiritual teaching about immortality, transformation, and the eternal nature of the soul.

Holmes taught that the physical body is a temporary manifestation of a more subtle, ethereal plane, and that the soul is immortal. He emphasized that "this physical body is but a counterpart of an immaterial body" and that the Spirit which gave life to man cannot "unbreathe" it.

In his April 1950 Easter address, he said "We are in heaven right now. This is the meaning of Life and of Easter and our relationship to God." For Holmes, Easter was a dramatic reminder of eternal existence-that there is nothing to fear but our own thoughts, and that through spiritual alignment, we can live in the "glory of an everlasting protection of the One Presence." From Science of Mind Archives

In essence, Holmes' Easter message was:
* The soul is immortal and part of the universal Spirit.
* The body is temporary; the soul is eternal.
* The Spirit that raised Jesus lives in all of us.
* Easter is a call to spiritual awakening, transformation, and living in eternal life now.

Spiritual Contemplation:
* Have you descended into a darker personal time in your life?
* What have you learned about yourself through your soul searching?

Affirmation
I rise with the spring energies with a renewed passion for life!—And So It Is!
