It is with a heavy heart and gratitude that we announce the suspension of operations for Awake Wesleyan Church in Zephyrhills. After much deliberation, the church board met with the Florida Wesleyan District Superintendent and voted to suspend operations effective June 1, 2026. Awake has been impactful in the community of Zephyrhills. Through its operations, Lead Pastor Dennis Harmeson has preached at AdventHealth’s Easter sunrise service and been involved in the Ministerial Association that meets at AdventHealth. Pastor Dennis and his wife, Rebecca, have volunteered with countless organizations within the community. While Awake Wesleyan’s operations on C Avenue will be suspended, the legacy of the church will not die. It will continue on in the hearts of its members and the impact those members have faithfully attained for the Kingdom of God. Please be in prayer for this congregation as they make this transition. It was not an easy decision for Pastor Dennis and the church board to make. It was one made with prayerful consideration. Pastor Dennis also announced his retirement effective June 1. While it may look like an end, it is a new beginning of serving in the community for Pastor Dennis and his congregation. Awake Wesleyan will continue to hold services until its final service on Sunday, May 31st. Join them and celebrate what God is doing for His Kingdom’s sake.
