A TIDBIT OF TRUTH FOR TODAY

Psalm 25:1-3 Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

Psalm 25 appears to be written by David during the rebellion of his son, Absalom. Because of the rebellion, David does not know what path to take so he turns to God. Many a parent has been devastated because of the direction a child has chosen to take. Others whom we have sought to help along the way seemingly ignore the advice and teaching and choose to rather go in the opposite direction. Due to devastating times in our lives we tend to be at a loss for what we should do. The very first thing is to turn to God in prayer. We might not know what path to take but He does.

The first prayer we find David prays here in Psalm 25 is a prayer for protection – that God guard him. David makes his appeal o the God of the covenant (Jehovah) and the God of creation (Elohim). David understood that he could not stand alone against the enemy that he was facing. He needed to know that the God of strength and security was not only on his side but at his side.

It is said that Martin Luther was encouraged by others to not carry his clash with the Roman church into the city of Worms. They were afraid he would never come out alive. Martin Luther’s reply to them was, “I trust God Almighty!”

Maybe your life today could be categorized as troublesome and lonely. You, like David, feel the enemy is about to pounce on you. Turn to God and trust Him for protection.

Thought for the Day: The One whose grace pardoned us desires to guard us.

A TIDBIT FOR TODAY

Psalm 30:5 Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Continuing to consider the sun rays shining through the dark clouds; we can be reminded of another great spiritual truth.

As I have observed the streams of light breaking through the clouds, I have often been reminded of that wonderful day when Christ is coming to rapture His Bride. Christ, the Light, will break through the clouds His church and take us to live with Him forever. We do not know when His coming will take place; but it would appear that the darker it gets here on this earth, and the greater the storms rage around us; surely His coming must be nigh.

Paul said in I Thessalonians 4:16-17, “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” What a day that will be when we are raptured home where there will be no more dark clouds, no more storms; rather we will “live in the light of the risen Lamb.”

May our hearts join John the Apostle in praying, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”

Thought for the Day: Are you ready and longing for the Sun to break through those dark clouds?

A TIDBIT OF TRUTH FOR TODAY

Psalm 30:5 Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Sometimes we can have some pretty nasty storms around here in Florida. Have you ever gone out the morning following a night of terrible storms (lightning, thunder, high winds, rain, etc.) and noticed that while the storm was over the clouds seem to linger? As you observed the sky, every now and then you would find a break in the clouds and you would see the sun as it shone through the break in the clouds. Sometimes, the break was large enough to see the sun; but at other times all you could see was the rays of the sun peeking through the clouds.

What a reminder that each of us will have to face storms in our lives. While some storms are not that severe, others bring the dark clouds, the rain, the high winds, along with thunder and lightning. Yet, no matter how dark it may get on this side of the clouds, behind the clouds the sun is always shining. Someone has said there is a silver lining in every cloud. What is it that you are searching for in your storm clouds to latch onto for hope and security? Are you looking for a person, an event, anything that could give you a glimmer of hope amidst your storm?

My friend, it is the Light behind the clouds that produces the silver lining. We do not need to place our trust even in the silver lining but in the One who is the Light of the silver lining. Whatever your storm might be; however dark the clouds are overhead; look beyond the clouds to the Light and allow Him to be your hope.

Thought for the Day: Beyond the darkest clouds, the Son is always shining.
