Okay... a slight defense of Jacob based on yesterdays exploration... Yes, how Jacob goes about attaining Issac's blessing seems "slimy". But here's a couple of things to further consider: 1. It was not Issac's blessing that Esau was rejecting or being inconsiderate of... it was YHWY's. The blessing was always coming from YHWY and was YHWY's to give. The blessing being rejected was tied to the land (it was always about the land). Esau openly, out rightly, and definitively rejects YHWY's blessing by leaving the "promised" land for the mountainous region we discussed yesterday. 2. Jacob, however "icky" it seems to us, shows one thing; he desperately wants to have the blessing of YHWY through Isaac. Perhaps God knew this would happen and that is why the prophecy about Jacob in the womb. Perhaps as "slimy" as Jacob seemed, it was his desire for YHWY (via the blessing) that YHWY honored and that desire was just enough "raw material" for YHWY to work with.

Just came across this article. A very good tool for exploring our "Jacobness" with our children. Very good questions to ask even for our teen children.

In ruminating on prayer this week, we discussed the A.C.T.S. “system” of prayer. Fitting for sure, having studied the book of acts for so long. I myself have used this method in my life and have been inspired in prayer having done so. What I’ve been reflecting on this week is the Lord’s Prayer given to us on how to pray. All of the elements of the A.C.T.S system are there as well. I recently have made this my “system” of prayer; praying with Jesus in his prayer (adding my my requests for bread, my confessions, my struggles to forgive into the various segments) and have found it to be just as life giving. This morning I read from Eugene Peterson, “Jesus’ prayers do not contain all prayer. They are acorns from which a praying life grows in us, becoming deep-rooted, heaven-reaching oak trees.
This is in NO WAY a corrective to anything said or emphasized last Sunday. Use any “system” or no system, but pray! For in our prayers we are becoming something greater than we were when we start praying. Perhaps like Peterson suggests; our practice of prayer makes our prayers mighty indeed. - Jeremy

Mark your calendar for our community Easter egg hunt on March 23! 🥚🧺✝️

The hunt will begin at 11 A.M. with an egg hunt for kids ages 0-3; and another egg hunt immediately following for kids ages 4-12. We love hosting this event for our surrounding community, and we can't wait to see you at it!
