Though raised Catholic, Jean Nixon spent many years as a Hare Krishna before returning to the Church. And when she did, her love for the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist led her to get more involved in the devotional practice of Eucharistic Adoration.

Eventually, she helped start a 24 hour prayer effort that has been going continuously for several years, and has since produced a number of vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and even religious sisters.

Jean shares how the setting up of that one Eucharistic Adoration chapel a few decades ago has not only transformed her own life, but has sent ripple effects of grace throughout her entire parish community, her diocese, and beyond.

"Some form of daily Examen is crucial for the Christian journeyer because every day, as we experience the ups and downs, the joys and sorrows of the journey, we are always, intentionally or unintentionally, building a mental narrative of our life.

"Without an intentional daily practice of examining our experiences and consciously and prayerfully bringing them before God, we risk building up a mental narrative that is divorced from reality and reflective only of our vices rather than our faith in Jesus."

More from JonMarc Grodi on the concept of "re-reading your day with Jesus..."

Many Christians believe in the Rapture, and can point to passages in the Scriptures that they think show support for that belief.

However, as former Pentecostal pastor Kenny Burchard points out, references to the Rapture may indeed be in your Bible; but not in the way you might expect.

These references to the Rapture aren’t in the text of Scripture itself, but rather, in the editorial footnotes and commentary at the bottom of the page, as a way of adding a particular explanation to certain passages in order to argue that they should be interpreted as referring to the Rapture.

Many Christians believe in the Rapture, and can point to passages i...

"As we conclude the 50 days of this Easter Season, the 'feast of feasts' (CCC 1169) and greatest of the Christian seasons of joy, we celebrate what J.R.R. Tolkien called the 'eucatastrophe of the story of the Incarnation'—the joyful surprise that, just when all hope seemed lost, Jesus rose again victorious over sin and death."

JonMarc Grodi shares some thoughts on Easter joy as we approach the conclusion of this liturgical season on Sunday with the great feast of Pentecost:

From the Late Great Planet Earth to Left Behind, the claims of Dispensationalism have captured the popular Christian imagination, leading many to believe in doctrines like the Rapture, without realizing how recent of an idea it is.

Ken Hensley, who originally came to Christian faith in a Dispensationalist Bible study, shares a brief rundown of the history of Dispensationalism, from John Nelson Darby to C.I. Scofield, through the Niagara Bible Conferences and Dallas Theological Seminary, up to the present day.

Garrett Hines was raised in the non-instrumental Church of Christ, but had a renewed excitement for Evangelization through a nondenominational congregation, and became a missionary to Indonesia for a few years.

That ended poorly, and shook his faith.

During COVID especially, he began to explore other ways to renew his Christian commitment, and became fascinated with the Catholic Church. He became Catholic, and began to use his artistic gifts to train as an iconographer.

Michael Nixon was a troubled teenager living on the streets when he met Hare Krishna devotees preaching peace through their spirituality and lifestyle. He immediately joined up, and became deeply involved with their worship and the spread of their message.

However, when he got arrested for drug trafficking, he found that the prayers and mantras from his Hare Krishna world were no longer a source of peace for him. Instead, he began to find peace from something unexpected: the Christian prayers and Psalms he had been taught ages ago by his grandmother.

Today, he's a deacon in the Catholic Church, serving in Florida -- and his son ended up becoming a priest!
