Linda says that I don’t HAVE to walk more than 8000 steps a day; in fact, I shouldn’t be burning so many calories since I’m trying to get back to closer to 150 lbs. She bases it on this:

“While 10,000 steps is a popular goal, research indicates that significant health benefits—including lower mortality risk—begin at lower levels, with 7,000–8,000 steps often cited as a highly effective daily target. Generally, 7,000–10,000 steps is ideal for health, with benefits for seniors plateauing around 6,000–8,000 steps.
Key Takeaways on Step Counts:
• Significant Benefits: As few as 2,500–3,000 steps per day can start to lower risks of cardiovascular disease and premature mortality, British Heart Foundation (https://www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/heart-matters-magazine/activity/how-many-steps-a-day-should-i-walk-for-my-heart-health) says.
• Optimal Range: 7,000–10,000 steps per day provides significant health benefits, reducing risk of premature death, Sharp HealthCare (https://www.sharp.com/health-news/how-7-000-steps-per-day-can-save-your-life) says.
• Age Considerations: For adults 60 and older, 6,000–8,000 steps is sufficient for maximum benefit, while younger adults may see benefits continue up to 10,000”

We mourn the passing of our founding pastor Stacy Richards, who died Saturday after a struggle with Pneumonia. Our condolences to Marilynn and to his family. He will be missed by all who knew him, but his spirit and his commitment to a compassionate Christian faith will live on in the congregations he served and the lives he touched.
