Today is 25 years since the terrible attacks of September 11, 2001. Those attacks were an act of human evil that changed the world in ways that it is hard to describe. Among so many other changes, suddenly we went from a state of general peace as a nation to decades of war. However, all of that came after the events of that terrible day. That day showed both the worst kinds of human evil and the heights of selflessness and bravery. Thank God for the brave and selfless. Thank God for the firefighters, police, and so many others who ran toward danger. Thank God for the brave passengers of Flight 93 who, though they could not save themselves, saved others by their heroic struggle. Thank God for those who took up the call to serve faithfully for years after 9/11 in the hopes of protecting us from evil. Most of all, thank God that evil does not get the last word, but that God will judge evil and make all things new.

"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.' "
--Revelation 21:3–4

May God comfort those who still mourn lost loved ones. May God also guide us as a people to turn and pursue His righteousness by His grace while vigilantly guarding against evil and protecting the innocent.

One year ago today Charlie Kirk was assassinated for being committed to speaking the Biblical truth and explain his political positions to crowds who both loved and hated him. His faithful courage is an inspiration that we would all do well to follow. May God comfort his wife, kids, and friends on this anniversary of a day of terrible loss. May God also embolden us, His church, to stand bravely and speak the truth in love to a lost and dying world.
