Mojave Zen

Mojave Zen Mojave Zen is a Zen meditation group in Yucca Valley, CA. We are affiliated with Yokoji Zen Mountain Instruction will be given for newcomers.

Everyone is welcome, whether you have experience with Zen meditation or not. We start every Tuesday at 7pm and sit two 30 minutes periods of meditation with 10 minutes of kinhin, or walking meditation, in between. We then take a 15 minute break and wrap up the evening with a short talk, finishing at around 8:45pm. Please arrive by 6:40pm if you are coming for the first time as the instruction will

begin at 6:45pm. We start sitting at 7pm, so be in your seat by 6:55pm at the latest. Mojave Zen is a satellite group of Yokoji Zen Mountain Center. The group is led by Jim Yugen Lakey, a senior Zen Priest who trained under Tenshin Roshi as a resident at Yokoji from 2008 - 2013. If you have your own meditation mat and cushion, or bench, please bring them with you. Newcomers will be given instruction on how to sit in a chair for meditation. There are padded chairs available to use.
