Every life change starts with a choice.

Evangelism isn’t a coincidence; it’s a calling that demands courage and clarity.

When we step out with purpose, lives are changed, hope is shared, and faith becomes contagious.

Be intentional today because eternity matters!

Does the Book of Mormon really contradict the Bible? Yes, it does, despite the Mormon claim that the two are in happy agreement, as I explain in a new series of articles on IRR’s website. Two of these contradictions are at the heart of the Book of Mormon: its claim that material was removed from the Bible, and its story of Jesus coming down from heaven to visit people in the Americas. Other contradictions involve the fall of Adam and Eve, whether dark skin is a mark of God’s curse, salvation by grace, whether the Book of Mormon people observed the Law of Moses, and its references to Jesus as the Father and the Son. In the comments below, I give a link to the summary article from which you can find the articles discussing these issues in detail.

No matter your church planting context, we’re culturally all in exile. Here’s how the Old Testament informs our understanding of seeking the good of the cities we’re called to.
---
If you’re planting a church today, you’re doing it in Babylon.

We’re pastoring people who are discipled daily by secular liturgies, digital habits, and competing visions of the good life.

And we feel the tension:
- Do we pull back and protect our people?
- Do we immerse ourselves within our cities and risk compromise?

Here's what Joshua 23 says:
- “Be very strong to keep and to do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses.” (v. 6)
- “You shall cling to the Lord your God.” (v. 8)

This passage is filled with warnings about idolatry, too. It’s all about guarding a holy people in a holy land from spiritual compromise.

Here's what Jeremiah 29 tells us to do:
- Settle in. Build houses. Plant gardens; don’t treat Babylon like it’s a layover.
- Multiply as God’s people. Marry, have children, and remain distinct as a covenant community—now on Babylonian soil.
- Seek the city’s shalom. Work and pray for the good of the city you’re planting in.

Questions for your team:
- Where are we tempted to compromise (Joshua 23)?
- Where are we tempted to withdraw (Jeremiah 29)?
- How are we rooting ourselves here, in this specific place?
- What does it mean for our church to truly be an “embassy” here?

Reminders for your team:
- Guard your worship.
- Root yourselves in your city.
- Make disciples who are different yet who are also deeply present.
- Plant churches that truly look like embassies of the kingdom.

And remember: You are not just “trying to survive Babylon.”

You are bearing witness to a better city—the one “whose architect and builder is God.” (Hebrews 11:4)
