As we say farewell to our beloved former Pastor and friend, Taylor Vines, (seen here from afar wearing typical priestly black, walking away from his last duties at St. Luke's last Sunday - officiating at a beautiful wedding ceremony), we wish him well, and turn our eyes to the future, and put our trust in God.

Celebrate Ascension Day with us this Sunday at 10am. Jesus is with us, ever by our side. "When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven." [Luke 24:50-51]

With his last day May 31st, we have just four more Sundays to hear the Rev. Taylor Vines preach from the St. Luke’s pulpit. We give thanks for his ministry as we mourn his loss, all with the bright light of our Savior and His presence healing our souls, and giving us a joyful and hopeful spirit as we plan our future.

While we pray and work for peace, our siblings in the Holy Land will continue to serve God’s people with hospitals, schools, orphanages, and humanitarian aid programs. These ministries serve people of all faiths without distinction, bearing witness to the power of hope and healing across divides.

By supporting life-giving ministries in the Anglican Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East, including St. George’s, Baghdad; the eye clinic in Ras Morbat, Yemen; the Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza; and numerous other institutions identified by their dioceses, you are ensuring that our siblings in Christ are not forgotten.
Thank you. The Good Friday Offering affirms the dignity of the poor, the war-torn, and those in desperate need as God’s ministry is done. Thank you for spreading hope’s message through your gifts and prayers.

Today is Transgender Day of Visibility 💙🤍💗

At St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, we give thanks for the beauty, courage, and care of our transgender siblings. We celebrate the lives, gifts, and witness of our trans members and friends, people who help reveal more fully the image of God in our midst.

We want to say this plainly: you are not just welcomed here: you are loved, honored, and essential to who we are as the Body of Christ.

In a world that too often responds with misunderstanding or fear, we are committed to being a community shaped by the love of Jesus: a love that makes room, that tells the truth, and that rejoices in each person as they are.

To our trans community: we see you, we celebrate you, and we are grateful for you.

“Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God.” (1 John 4:7)

Yesterday afternoon, we gathered with other Episcopal churches from across Livingston and Washtenaw Counties for a public witness of faith, prayer, and solidarity in Riverside Park.

Beginning with the Stations of the Cross, we prayed through the story of Jesus’ suffering and death: not as something distant or abstract, but as something that continues to unfold in our world today. From there, we walked the Via Dolorosa together, carrying that story into the streets of Ypsilanti.

At each stop, we named the pain and disruption in our own community, especially the ways our neighbors are impacted by immigration enforcement and the fear it brings. We prayed. We sang. We bore witness.

Holy Week reminds us that the cross is not only something we remember—it is something we encounter. And yesterday, we encountered it in one another, in our neighbors, and in the shared work of seeking justice and mercy.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, walked, prayed, and helped make this witness possible.

Looking for a way to help our siblings in the Middle East? One way to do that is contributing to the Good Friday Offering which has supported schools, health care facilities, and churches in the Anglican Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East for over a century.

While we pray and work for peace, our siblings in the Holy Land will continue to serve God’s people with hospitals, schools, orphanages, and humanitarian aid programs. These ministries serve people of all faiths without distinction, bearing witness to the power of hope and healing across divides.
