This summer we are answering your burning questions and have invited a diverse group of preachers to share their thoughts. This Sunday, Pastor Sarah Lynne is preaching on the role of emotions in faith responding to the question: "If I'm Not 'On-fire for the Lord,' Am I an Imposter?"

Whenever Pastor Sarah Lynne reflects on human freedom and the tree of knowledge story, she also thinks about a doctrine called the simplicity of God. Here she explains what that is and shares how God's simplicity is the kind of freedom and goodness we long for. We can't fully be like God in that way, but we can learn to follow the wisdom of God (the Holy Spirit) within us and that (in relationship with Jesus' grace and loving community) is what leads to a life of freedom and goodness.

Have you ever been to a worship service and everyone's got their hands raised, but you just aren't feeling it? What if you've never "felt" the Holy Spirit? Or maybe you just generally don't feel very emotional? What matters to God when it comes to our expression of worship and faith? Let's talk about it this Sunday as we continue your Hot Topics series!

It's one week since Greg (our council moderator) and Pastor Sarah Lynne drove home from the Thriving Congregations conference. Have you filled out the survey we emailed you?!? If you are a regular attender (in-person or online), a member, or a community partner that has worked on social justice/compassion projects with JoF, PLEASE check the weekly email and fill it out. This will help us with our grant projects. And if you want to hear Greg's perspective on the trip, what he thinks about PSL's friends, or his feelings about being an Ann Arborite, check out this video!

We had a great time talking about why God made the tree of knowledge and questions like this help us reflect on our experiences in the world and relationship with God, but sometimes other parts of the story are also important, like "what does this story about eating from the tree of knowledge tell us about the human condition?" "What insights does it give us about how we relate to knowledge today?" "How do we use and apply our knowing?" "What drives us to know more?" Check out the whole sermon at https://www.youtube.com/
