What is God trying to produce in you through your trials?

“for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:3-4

The purpose of trials is to make us perfect, complete, and lacking nothing.

God’s goal is more than simply fixing the situation. He wants to deepen your faith, shape your character, and draw you closer to Him in the middle of the storm.

When Christ is the goal, joy becomes possible.

“You can’t give what isn’t yours. You can only BRING. When it leaves my hands, it is no longer mine”

This past Sunday Pastor Ted Max shared a message on what it means to give. As a church, we dove into the meaning of the tithe and its Old Testament origin - going all the way back to the story of Cain and Abel! Even Jesus spoke in his parables more about money than any other subject matter.

God can’t bless any area of your life where He’s not first.

When we put God first, He says YES. Trusting Him with our first and best isn’t about what He wants from us—it’s about what He wants for us.

90% with God’s blessing is better than 100% without it.

Jesus served! He was extremely overqualified to take your sin into His body and take it to cross.

He left His throne in heaven and came as a servant — not to be served, but to serve.

You and I are never more like Jesus than when we serve. When we serve others, we’re actually walking the way Jesus walked.

You are never more like Christ than when you are serving.

At Cana, everyone tasted the miracle, but only the servants experienced it.

They carried the water and watched Jesus turn the ordinary into something extraordinary.

Every weekend, we get to do the same.
Some taste the wine.
Others get to see the miracle up close.

“The first of His signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested His glory.” John 2:11

Simple truth: church isn’t primarily about us or what makes us comfortable. The reason we gather isn’t so we can “like” the experience.

We gather so that we can love the Lord our God with all of our heart, all of our soul, all of our mind, and all of our strength!

We were made for relationships. We’re wired for them!

What connects us to other people isn’t our highlight reel or what we post in 140 characters on social media. What connects us to other people isn’t what we’re great at. It’s what we’re struggling with. It’s when we’re vulnerable.

When we open up, that’s when we start to connect. We realize we’re not alone. Real intimacy begins when we choose openness and transparency.

Such an amazing Sunday at YCC as we continued our series The Four Core and explored what it really means to grow together.

The message of God is compelling.
The goodness of God is profound.

When you encounter the gospel, it changes you. And transformed lives draw people in. And when people come, things grow.

Growth gets messy sometimes—but that’s the beauty of God!
