Yesterday, Sunday May 31st, we celebrated The Feast of Holy Pentecost, also called Trinity Sunday. It is celebrated every year on the fiftieth day after the Great and Holy Feast of Pascha (Easter) and ten days after the Feast of the Ascension of Christ. The Feast is always celebrated on a Sunday.

The Feast commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles on the day of Pentecost, a feast of the Jewish tradition. It also celebrates the establishment of the Church through the preaching of the Apostles and the baptism of the thousands who on that day believed in the Gospel message of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Christ is risen!

The sixth Sunday of Holy Pascha is observed by the Orthodox Church as the Sunday of the Blind Man. The day commemorates the miracle of Christ healing the man who was blind since birth.

This is the last Sunday of the Paschal period before the Feast of the Ascension, which will follow on Thursday of this week. The Apodosis or Leave-taking of the Feast of Pascha is on Wednesday, a day which is free of fasting and celebrated with the joy and brightness of the Feast of Feasts.

Christ is Risen!

This Sunday, May 10th —known as the fifth Sunday of Pascha— we celebrate the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman. In the Gospel reading, we behold a remarkable encounter, a sacred dialogue between our Lord Jesus Christ and a woman of Samaria. It is one of the longest recorded conversations in the Gospels, and it is a dialogue that unfolds not merely in words, but in an outpouring of divine Grace.

Some pictures from yesterday - the Holy Thursday - The Reading of the Twelve Gospels.

Today, on Great and Holy Friday the Orthodox Church commemorates the death of Christ on the Cross. This is the culmination of the observance of His Passion by which our Lord suffered and died for our sins.

Our service starts at 6 p.m. We hope to see you there!

Tomorrow, April 5th, on the Sunday before the Feast of Great and Holy Pascha and at the beginning of Holy Week, the Orthodox Church celebrates one of its most joyous feasts of the year.
Palm Sunday is the commemoration of the Entrance of our Lord into Jerusalem following His glorious miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead. Having anticipated His arrival and having heard of the miracle, the people went out to meet the Lord and welcomed Him with displays of honor and shouts of praise.
On this day, we receive and worship Christ in this same manner, acknowledging Him as our King and Lord.
