Judges under King Henry VIII sentenced Anna Askew to be burned to death.

She was to be executed for denying the doctrine of transubstantiation.

“Sayest thou that priests cannot make the body of Christ ?” Said one of her accuses. She replied, “ I have read that God made man; but that man can make God, I have never yet read, nor, I suppose, shall ever read.”
