Today we honor the histories, cultures, resilience, and enduring contributions of Indigenous peoples.

We recognize that Indigenous communities are not simply part of history. They are living, vibrant communities whose voices, traditions, wisdom, and leadership continue to enrich our world.

This day also invites us to acknowledge painful histories of displacement, injustice, and the church's own complicity in harm against Indigenous peoples.

As people of faith, we are called to listen with humility, seek truth, honor the dignity of every person, and work toward relationships rooted in justice and respect.

May our remembrance lead us beyond words toward understanding, reconciliation, and meaningful action.

An invitation can be a beautiful thing. It tells us that we are wanted, remembered, and included.

In the Parable of the Wedding Banquet (Matthew 22:1–14), Jesus describes an invitation that reaches beyond the expected guests.

But the story doesn't end with being invited. It challenges us to consider how we respond.

God's grace is freely given, yet it calls us into lives shaped by compassion, justice, humility, and love.

We do not earn God's welcome through our good works. Rather, the grace we receive can transform how we treat one another.

May our lives reflect the generosity of the One who invites us.

Lord of the feast, you have prepared a table before all peoples and poured out your life with abundance. Call us again to your banquet. Strengthen us by what is honorable, just, and pure, and transform us into a people of righteousness and peace, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Most gracious God, according to your wisdom the deep waters are opened up and clouds drop gentle moisture. We praise you for the return of planting and harvest seasons, for the fertility of the soil, for the harvesting of the crops, and for all other blessings that you in your generosity pour out on all people. Give us a full understanding of your mercy, that our lives may show respect and care for your creation; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
