Grace Lutheran Church Sunday School

Grace Lutheran Church Sunday School Come join us every Sunday from 9:40-10:40am.

It is our goal to "Ignite the Spark" of our children's faith by engaging them in a comprehensive program that will grow their desire to learn & explore their faith, & put that faith into action. We seek to share with the children knowledge of the scripture, as well as an understanding of what it means to be thoughtful, compassionate Christians. We provide service projects and fellowship gatherings to provide opportunities for children to build character & form lifelong friendships.

You have a virtual place at Grace! Tomorrow we will have our first virtual Meet with the kids to welcome everyone, explain what we hope to do when we meet with their class, acknowledge birthdays, and play a game. Kids can find a comfy spot to participate, dress casual (i.e., pjs :D), and don't have to have their screens on if they are uncomfortable. Families, check your e-mail for the link to join. Can't wait to see those cute faces at 10am!

Hi everyone, I wanted to share something that I saw on Instagram today . We had a bit of a frustrating end of the school day here. I screenshot this and plan to print it out tomorrow.

Bella’s teacher used an analogy today that applied to me immediately after hearing it. A Tube of toothpaste. How easily and quickly you can sq**rt out the whole tube... but can you get the toothpaste back in? How long does it take to get the toothpaste back in? How effective is it? If you do get it in, will that tube ever be the same. Our words can be the same way. Taking that moment to think before you speak is often a little easier if you have a plan.
In those frustrating moments I easily slip into “you were supposed to finish that assignment” “you should be finished already” “did you even listen to what your teacher said?” These kids are probably just as (if not more) frustrated than us trying to cope with these changes. As if going back to school after a summer off isn’t hard enough, sometimes this feels impossible. I hope everyone is doing well... however I’m sure many of you feel my pain. I hope this helps fill in the blanks when you remember to take a moment to think. 🤞 ❤️ ✌️

We may not be physically together but we are still each other’s village. Please feel free to share any tips that have worked for managing your home, work, fun, faith balance! Miss you all!

Tonight!

We are so excited to be partnered with Nickelodeon to provide anti-racism resources to support the content of this must-see special hosted by the brilliant and iconic, Alicia Keys. Join us in tuning in TOMORROW at 4 pm PT/7 pm ET:

Hosted by Alicia Keys, the program will amplify the voices and experiences of Black children across the country amid current events. The special will feature the leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement answering questions from real kids, offer tools for families to have constructive conversations about race and inclusivity, and highlight teen activists who are fighting racial injustice.

Said Keys, “I’ve had a vision of a forum that can engage kids during this time and help to focus our attention on how they might be feeling, and this Nick News special is it! Talking about race can be sensitive and uncomfortable; and sometimes we try to protect our children from racism they are already experiencing. But honestly, there is no way around this topic if we want to move forward in any kind of meaningful way. What’s happening in the world is not just a problem for the Black community, it’s all of our problem and we ALL have to care about it in order to change it! This is such an important, vulnerable, honest and beautiful conversation, and I know many families may be searching for the right way to enter it. Let’s really deep dive together.”

Keys will lead a series of conversations with special guests, including: the co-founders of Black Lives Matter, Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi; 12-year-old singer and viral sensation, Keedron Bryant; Ibram X. Kendi, author of “Antiracist Baby;” Jade Fuller, Nya Collins, Zee Thomas, Kennedy Green, Emma Rose Smith and Mikayla Smith, the Nashville, Tenn., teens who founded Teens4Equality; social media star Tabitha Brown and her family; and family therapist, Dr. George James.

A discussion guide as well as anti-racism resources, made in partnership with The Conscious Kid and Dr. George James, will be available on nickhelps.com and Nickelodeon’s social channels following the premiere of the special.

Pastor is teaching us in church the habits that make us good Christians. This week’s theme was that we should read the Bible. How do you make that exciting for kids...have them read the Bible to figure out clues & go on a scavenger/treasure hunt, then give them candy at the end!🍬 The kids got their exercise running around the building🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻 Our littlest lambs played a blindfold Follow the Leader game & Bible Story Bingo🙈. Lots of smiling faces when we were done😊

Last Sunday’s activities...we learned that to be an effective Christian we should gather together to worship & learn about God’s message to love, & help one another. We are stronger united than alone. Using the story of the “Feeding of 5,000”, we demonstrated this idea with some STEM activities involving spaghetti. Our littlest lambs shared bread & goldfish crackers to learn the importance of giving to others. The 1st/2nd graders got to make their own mess painting their tealight holders. We like the messy in our Sunday School program😜
