Join us next Sunday, August 2nd at 10:15 as guest speaker Pastor Jay Olivo joins us. Pastor Jay has been a great blessing in Pastor Freddie's life and ministry. Didn't miss being there to hear his message of challenge and encouragement as we focus on spiritual revival.

Pastor Jay Olivo was appointed to serve as Community Alliance Church's senior pastor in April 2017. Prior to that, he served as pastor of Saving Grace Ministries in Lancaster, PA, Orchard Park Church in Union, NJ and an associate pastor at the Spanish CM&A Church of 107th St in New York City, NY.

The attributes that best describe Jay as a pastor are passionate preaching, leadership development and counseling. He has expressed a burning desire to lead a church like Community Alliance Church to fall in love with Jesus and His Word and to help others do the same, with an ultimate aim on developing intimacy with God. He has a passion to see revival take place in the church of Christ. He is truly a servant of God who loves to serve the community. Pastor Jay takes worship and preaching very seriously, spending time regularly focused on Bible study and praying for each member of the church.

He graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1995 with a degree in Evangelism.

Jay has been happily married for 25+ years to his wife, Eileen They have two adult children, Joseph and Jeremiah. Eileen has worked for Mennonite Central Committee for nearly 10 years and though the office is based in Akron, PA, she is able to work remotely.

During the pandemic, two of these bleeding hearts were donated to the church by a local landscaper. They were undersized and fragile. He couldn't use them for his job because it wouldn't have been a good presentation to plant new flowers that didn't look healthy.

Here they are five years later. The roots are strong, the plant is flourishing and healthy and they bring much needed color to our front flower beds with very little care needed.

That's how our lives are with Jesus. He brings life from death. He brings unexplainable peace in times of trial. He gives a joy that is not fleeting. He restores our souls. The only thing we need to do is plant our roots. If we place our hope and trust in him, he will take care of the rest.

Today's closing song is I Have Decided to Follow Jesus. We have a choice - we can decide to do our own thing or we can choose to let Jesus hold us up on the last day. Sin is satisfying for a while, otherwise it wouldn't be tempting to do our own things. In the end, however it will bring grief, sorrow and condemnation. Christ gives eternal life. Which will you choose? Plant your roots in Jesus today.

As believers in Jesus, the Bible refers to us as saints. We are redeemed. We are holy, set apart. We are sanctified through his blood. Unbelievers are known as fools. They are lost.
