Welcome


Incorporated as a non-profit public cemetery on August 26, 1872, Lebanon Cemetery Cemetery is a peaceful resting place located 2 miles north of York City on the 1400 block of North George Street. It is the largest and one of the oldest African American cemeteries in York County, Pennsylvania.



Our Past


The original charter members and first Board of Directors of Lebanon Cemetery were: Anthony Drowery, Alexander McKinney, Isaac Gooden, James Smallwood, Richard S. Wilson, James Spangler, Thomas Cyrus, Alfred Burton, and George Washington, Sr.



Our Present


Lebanon Cemetery Company board of directors reorganized in September of 2019. The board continues to work diligently to continue the work of making Lebanon Cemetery a place of beauty and remembrance, worthy of the precious memories that the families of York entrust to us.

The Lebanon Cemetery Board of Directors will be having their regular Monthly meeting at the York City School District Administration building, Tuesday September 13, 2022, beginning at 6:00 pm . The address is 31 North Pershing Avenue....

At the April 19, 2022 public meeting the Board announced that it legally can not and will not honor burials at Lebanon Cemetery without proof of ownership of a lot. This is usually in the form of a signed lot deed issued by the cemetery board. If you own a lot at Lebanon Cemetery please contact the Board to update your contact information on file and provide a copy of proof of ownership of your lot. This can be accomplished by:
1. Mail in a copy of your paperwork and provide your contact information to: Lebanon Cemetery, 1412 N. George St., York, PA 17404.
2. Call and speak with someone to update your information at (717) 819-9448.
3. Email a copy of your paperwork and provide your contact information to [email protected]

It is very important to provide this information to protect your lot purchase and right to be interred at Lebanon Cemetery.
