In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
Statement Issued by the Council of Imams of the Three States Regarding the Attack on the Islamic Center in San Diego
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all his companions.
The Council of Imams of the Three States has followed with deep sorrow and grief the criminal attack that targeted the Islamic Center in San Diego, resulting in the death of innocent people and the injury of others. This painful incident shakes the human conscience and reveals the grave danger of hatred, racism, and extremism.
The Council strongly condemns this evil act in the strongest possible terms and affirms that targeting houses of worship and peaceful worshippers is a crime that is forbidden in Islam and rejected by all moral and human values. No religion, sound mind, or upright human nature can justify such violence.
We extend our sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims, to the administration and members of the Islamic Center, and to the Muslim community across the United States. We ask Allah Almighty to envelop the victims in His vast mercy, grant healing to the injured, and protect Muslims and their mosques from all harm and evil.
The Council also appreciates the statements of solidarity issued by religious leaders, public officials, and members of the wider community. We stress the importance of united efforts in confronting hatred and intolerance, strengthening the values of coexistence and mutual respect, and protecting houses of worship for people of all faiths.
Furthermore, the Council calls upon the Muslim community to remain patient and wise, to preserve unity, and to cooperate with the appropriate authorities in ways that ensure the safety and security of society, without allowing such incidents to deter them from their mission of serving the community and spreading the values of mercy and peace.
Allah the Almighty says:
“Whoever saves one life, it is as if he has saved all of mankind.”
[Qur’an 5:32]
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand people are safe.”
(Agreed upon)
We ask Allah to protect all people and lands from trials and evil, to unite hearts, and to spread peace and security throughout society.
And Allah is the Grantor of success.
