Church on the Rock is:
A fellowship of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire to know God
and to be conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. Church on the Rock
began July, 1984, first meeting on the square in Yellville in what is referred to by the local
people as the Layton Building. This beautiful building is still where the church meets to
worship God in Spiri
t and Truth. The name "Church on the Rock" is taken from the words of Jesus in Matthew 16:18 where He said,"
And I say to you that you are Peter (meaning a stone), and upon this rock (large rock, bedrock) I will
build My Church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it." We are not a denominational church, and we recognize unity is not conformity; therefore
we are not opposed to denominationalism, only the over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that might
lead to division. We believe in the Church as the Body of Christ and we love God's people whoever or wherever
they may be. We believe:
The Bible is the inspired word of God**God is triune, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit**Man fell through disobedience**
Christ died for our sins**Salvation is totally by God's grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ**The only means of
being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the blood of Christ**In the baptism with the Holy Spirit whereby
the believer is baptized into the one body** In water baptism**
In the regular celebration of the Lord's supper**In being filled with and walking according to the Holy Spirit**
In the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit**In divine healing**The second coming of Christ** In the final judgment**
In heaven and hell**That the church is responsible to evangelize all the world** In tithes and offerings to do the work of the ministry.
