So much of the Dharma points us back to the inner conditions that make a human life steady and whole. This week we’re exploring the “inner blessings” of the Mangala Sutta—qualities like restraint, humility, contentment, gratitude, patience, gentleness, and a mind that doesn’t shake in the winds of the world.

These aren’t abstract ideals. They’re lived textures of experience we can actually cultivate, moment by moment, in the middle of our ordinary lives.

If this resonates, join us Monday, May 18th at 7pm as we sit with these teachings and reflect on what inner blessings look like in our own practice.

Come as you are. Bring your curiosity and your lived experience.

Lately we’ve been exploring what the Buddha called “the highest blessings”—not miracles or luck, but the everyday conditions that help a human life flourish. Things like choosing wise company, living with integrity, supporting family, speaking truthfully, and doing work that brings no harm.

This Monday at 7pm, we’ll sit with the first half of the Mangala Sutta and look at what “outer blessings” really mean in a modern life. If you’re curious about how the Dharma frames well‑being in practical, grounded terms, you’re welcome to join us.

Come as you are. Bring your questions, your reflections, or just your presence. Everyone is always welcome.

We are thrilled to announce that Rebecca Li, PhD, will be visiting our Sangha on Monday, May 4th.

Rebecca Li, PhD, is a Chan Buddhist teacher in the lineage of Master Sheng Yen, and the founder and guiding teacher of Chan Dharma Community. She began practicing in 1995 while in graduate school in California and took refuge with Master Sheng Yen, founder of Dharma Drum Mountain, the same year. While in graduate school, she flew to New York to attend seven-day intensive retreats with Master Sheng Yen. She then moved to New Jersey for an academic position and to be closer to Master Sheng Yen, and in 1999 she began serving as his translator and also began teacher training with Master Sheng Yen, she started teaching Dharma classes in 2002. In 2001, Rebecca began to also train with Drs. John Crook and Simon Child, two of Master Sheng Yen’s Dharma heirs. After Master Sheng Yen’s passing in 2009 and John Crook’s passing in 2011, she continued training with Simon Child, who remains her current teacher. Over the years, Rebecca co-led intensive Chan retreats with Simon Child and collaborated with other teachers of the Western Chan Fellowship of the U.K.. More about Rebecca can be found at her website, https://rebeccali.org/ We hope you can join us on Monday to practice with Rebecca and help support the sangha’s visiting teachers program!

Rebecca’s topic will be “Chan Practice for Uncertain Times”. Please join us for an enlightening evening of guided mediation, Dharma talks, and Discussion.
