YOUTH GROUP CORNER
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
This summer has been a little different for our youth group. We didn't meet regularly during June & July, have camp or mission trip this year. While there haven't been youth activities to report, there has still been plenty to be thankful for.
Over the past year, many of our young people graduated & began the next chapter of their lives. One completed Army Basic Training, another moved to Tulsa for HVAC training, & another is preparing to move to Georgia for work. One got married, another began work in the welding industry, several earned their CDL & began the next steps toward their careers. & several have started college. It's exciting to see them growing up & beginning adult lives. It also reminds us how quickly these seasons of life pass. The same students who once sat in our youth group are now making decisions about careers, college, marriage, the military & where life will take them next. That's one reason Proverbs 3:5-6 is such an important reminder. We may not always know what the next step till look like, but we can know who is directing our path. Our plans & circumstances change.

Sometimes life takes us in directions we never expected. Through it all, God remains faithful. As a youth ministry, our goal has never been simply to keep students busy with activities. Our hope is that the time they spend here helps them develop a relationship with Christ that continues long after they graduate. Whether they are attending college, learning a trade, serving in the military, starting a career, or beginning a family, we want them to remember that their faith goes with them. Our youth group may look a little different right now, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. In many ways, seeing our young people grow up & step into the next season of their lives is exactly what we hoped for. We may miss having them all together, but we can be thankful for the opportunity to have been part of their lives & continue praying for them as they move forward. Please continue to pray for our young people, especially those who are beginning new chapters in their lives.
Pray they willl seek God's direction, make wise decisions, & remain faithful to Him wherever life takes them. Even when our youth group is small, God is still working Sometimes the greatest evidence is watching young people grow up, step out into the world, and begin the journey God has prepared for them.

BARRY'S BITS-
We are competitive in everything we do. In school it was the blue ribbon. At
work it is the promotion. In life it is the "keeping up with the Joneses." We are so competitive that our competition is the enemy. It is amazing the way our brains think. We as Christians are told to "run the race" and that only 1 gets the prize. I remember in high school we had rival-ries. Along with it came fights and a lot of nasty confrontations. Sometimes in life it seems to be us against the world. Romans 8:31-32 says, " ...f God is for us, who can be against us? He
who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" Remember at recess when you were picking teams and your team got "Johnny"? You for sure knew you were going to win because of him. Well, we've got Jesus! He has already won the victory.
V-I-C-T-O-R-Y! We win, you win in Christ Jesus. Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Amen!

BARRY’S BITS-

There are a lot of great days in a person's life, It makes us realize it is worth it all to be a believer and follow Jesus. Not everything happens when and like we want it to, but when a Pastor gets to baptize his granddaughter AND marry his youngest daughter in the SAME week-these are just some things you can't put a price tag on! They are priceless! In Philippians 4:11-13 Paul says, "I am not saying this because l am in need, for 1 have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and 1 know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." We have to learn to rest in Christ in the lean years and when there seems to be an abundance and everything is going like you want it to. God is the One who supplies our every need. We can trust Him with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding.
Acknowledge Him in all our ways and He will direct our paths. He is the One who makes provision for us.
