Sharon United Methodist Church- Yale, VA Sharon UMC worships on Sunday mornings at 9:15am and Sunday school at 10:45. Come join us! We live lives in deep appreciation for the saving grace of God.

United Methodists are the "Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors" people. We demonstrate our appreciation by activiely sharing in the work that God does to reconcile humanity to Himself, to each other and to all of nature. We welcome everyone and reach out to our community to find those who need a helping hand. We are especially eager to welcome those who do not have a church home and who want to explore the claims of Jesus. Come on over--and bring the kids!

Our youth put together some UMCOR hygiene kits with the funds raised from our April Bake Sale. Thanks again to everyone that supported this fundraiser. We are still working on those kits. Pictures soon. We discussed qualities that a mom should have with Mother’s Day approaching. We pray for them and thank God for the difference they make in our lives. Proverbs 31:10-31. We wish all mothers a “Happy Mother’s Day” from our hearts to yours. We also had some fun and games as always.

Our youth took bird houses that some of them made at a youth retreat in March to two people in our community tonight. We put them up and hope they will enjoy them. We also took our Blessing box to Sussex Mini Mart where we hope it will be a blessing to others. We ended our night with hot fudge cake for dessert.

Our youth discussed “Being in the world “ vs. “Being of the world.” We did a little experiment with water and oil. The water represented the world and the oil represented us. We are all mixed together but we can separate our life from the bad and represent Christ. We can “stand out” and rise above to be Christ like instead of conforming to bad behavior.
John 15:19 states that believers are not of the world because Jesus chose them out of it.

God is in our midst! God is in our community! In our changing times and culture, God’s love has not diminished. Becoming a blessed church means we seek to follow God's purposes, rely on God's presence, and trust in God's power. In so doing we become blessed AND we become a blessing.
